A lady is probably a title for the ruler, in which they were elected or inherited the role, with her wife/husband being a consort (legally binding spouse but not the actual ruler, possibly with potential to claim)

In vice versa a Lord could be the ruler and have a husband/wife consort.

Positions names for castes can be changed from the entity file.

She also doesn't do any military-related stuff although she is in the squad.

That's probably due to being a resident, not a Lady.  She will eventually apply for citizenship, then you can have her hauling stone for you.

If she's a long term resident mercenary she'll never accept any jobs. She should, however, join squads at any position except leader (has to be a citizen for that). However, the needs system interacts badly with a number of things, including military and burrows. "Interruptible" needs tasks trump military station and attack order, and needs tasks violate burrowing frequently and blatantly.

Mostali was faster in replying than me. However, I think this lady won't ever apply for citizenship as mercs never seem to do so.
