Stellaris Empire Collection
« on: May 16, 2016, 08:42:13 pm »

Welcome to the Bay12 Stellaris Empire Collection! Or something like that, the name of this thread isn't important.
After creating several empires for this game, I was wondering if any of you guys have made any creations and wanted to possibly encounter any as AI empires.
The other Stellaris thread is full of discussions of the game itself and would likely bury any empires mentioned there,
so I decided to make a separate thread for Space Empires made by Bay12 users.

I will from time to time update this post, if this thread ever reaches more than a few pages. Or when needed.

A minor rule though, I would like to discourage any names or words which would be considered 'offensive'.
One big rule though, is that you have to mention if your empire is using DLC or mod content. Because not everyone has them.

Well then.. Let's get started.

edit: I am not sure if any new empires will appear in an already saved game, but they should have a chance to do so within a new game.

I'll start with three empires I have created.

This first one uses an emblem from the Domination pack.
Not sure how to get that outside of that promotional thing Paradox did a while back.
Spoiler: Roman Lizard People (click to show/hide)
The other two should be fine for anyone to use though.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

My first game (still in the middle of it): I am playing as the Google Galactic Republic, an individualist, fanactic materialist human civ. I am focusing on science and the conquest and uplift of other species. So far it has been very fun! Science is really neat in Stellaris.

roughly based on the Shivan race from one of the most atmospheric space combat games: Freespace 2

laser tech, wormholes,
fanatic xenophobe, militaristic, (fanatic materialist might work too for better tech)
strong, resilliant, natural physicists, repugnant,
military dictatorship to get one big ship.

Fanatic spiritualist, collectivist plumphelmet men empire. They're weak and ugly as hell, but can adapt to their environment and efficient in mining minerals. They worship their infallible leader, Horologium as their saviour who will lead them to the stars.

Rak'gol eske amphibian insect militaristic, religious xenophobes. Rather flexible ethics wise if you don't care about being friendly. Good armies. Mass Drivers and wormholes.

THE CHURCH OF TEMPACC AND THE ONE CHAIR. Despotic Empire of Mammalian furries eternally under the control of a fungal entity. Fanatic spiritualist and collectivist. Repugnant conformist sedentary furries made intelligent by my divine touch, led by Tim Curry the grand emperor of satankind. Excelent at eslaving everyone ever while keeping everyone happy. A collectivistic, militant Reptilian empire ruled by a religious council. Long-lived but slow to breed, they seek to include any and all races in their vision of a unified galaxy under their One Truth.

Shogairi Empire. Loosely based on the Shogairi from David Webers Out Of The Dark novel.

Had to make them fox people, because there are no wolves in Stellaris...
Military dictatorship, because of their whole pack predator thing, seemed the most fitting for me. (Most badass one gets to be the boss until he gets removed or dies)
Traits: Weak (smaller then humans and rather lightly built), slow learners but talented (are shown to be good soldiers and not exactly stupid, but they are very slow to adapt new ideas) and adaptive because I had 2 points left over and no idea what to put them on. Sue me.
Ethic: Fanatic military and xenophobe.

Humanity Ascendant.
Materialists and fanatic collectivists, run by a despotic hegemony. The genetic purges and famines of the past have resulted in a different humanity. Gone are any trace of our migrant natures, and our culture now represses adaptation. The result:

Probably not particularly well realised, but here's the 2nd iteration of the first empire I played through as, the Illithid/Cthulhu mishmash that enslaves everyone they meet:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

(the first iteration had Decadent and one level of Collectivist instead of the 2nd level of Xenophobe, but I played them as not enslaving my own people and it was a pain in the ass to micromanage it so every planet had at least one xeno slave, especially since you can't resettle on planets in a sector)

Then my 2nd empire, a space penguin science directorate:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And finally the next empire I'll play through as, a corporate human empire:

(yes, none of my empires are actually original...)
