Chrome Wizard Saga
« on: May 16, 2016, 03:08:45 am »

This is a game with real time, three minute battles.

The rest will be an RPG. During those battles you will have moments to dodge attacks or even counter and utilize a wide array of spells that your mantle as a Chrome Mage entitles you to.

SpellBook:

Create 2 starting spells.

A little more? What's the setting? What can we do in the game?

The setting is a magical landscape where you can pick a few of these spells and throw your flaming rage at your opposition. The setting is I'm trying to build a combat system  more than a setting.  The setting is a forum game with a combat system you probably have not played before which I think you will enjoy.

If I am wrong you have wasted three minutes.

If the combat system is good, then people much smarter than me can build the setting. If you'll forgive me for not being a jack-of-all-trades I do think I am offering something that will be fun.

Seriously? A forum game with three minute time limit? Platform doesn't lend itself very well for very fast paced games.

I told you to test with colors! But nooo, you just had to go clone mega-Satan or whatever.

Apparently with the creation of this topic and a game that frankly you sir have not even seen in action, I disagree.

You know you think with so many forum games doing so many things this would be a place where people would try anything. And cherish and celebrate something new or the possibility of it. Am I wrong? Are you really all just old Bogey's that are set in your ways? Try my game have some Chrome balls.

Indeed. It does in fact seem fun.
However, the real-time thing... on a forum, especially this one, it doesn't seem likely to succeed.
For that matter, GameBoyBlue tried to run a game like this before, on a different thread within this forum, and it didn't go too well. On top of that... the previous game had larger time limits.
So, GameBoyBlue, I wish you luck running this game. If it works out, I might join it. Later.

If you'd like to design a game that is new and innovative as you want, but still works within good time spans, I'll be quite happy to work with you via PM.

FoU has some twisted role ideas. Screw second-guessing this mechanical garbage spaghetti, I'm basing everything on reads and visible daytime behaviour.

Would you like to play a game of Mafia? The subforum is always open to new players.

This seems interesting. However, I have some comments:

1) The original post is very, very barebones. Going into it, I have very little idea of what I'm getting into. I don't even know what the base system is, or what I'm even going to be doing, really. I need more information before I can really evaluate the game.

2) I'm not sure what the sources actually do. For example, how is "10s cooldown" different from "10s timing"? Is there any benefit for choosing a 30s cooldown over a 10s cooldown? Why is "joke" a source, and what does it do? Why would I choose "Once Use" over something like, say, "10s cooldown"?

I am intrigued, but I can't tell what the game really is or how it works.

Gotta agree with XY on that. I'd need a bit of help before I really understand it.

Also, a thought crossed my mind - this would be a helluva lot easier if done with Kik/texting, since bay12 doesn't let you post 10 seconds after your last post. (And it's akward to keep refreshing the page)

I admire your sense of adventure however before you go for it I will need to hear your 2 spells for your starting selection. Let me know if you have difficulty viewing the link.

Oh yeah this would totally be better in a chat room, is there one that bay12ians are fond of?
