Magma pressure?
« on: December 17, 2007, 12:50:00 pm »

Is there such a thing as magma pressure? That is, if I have a setup like

code:

MMMMMMMMRRRR___ - zlevel +1
MMMMMMMMMMMMCRR - zlevel  0

M is magma, R is rock, and C is where I'm planning to dig a channel. Will the "weight" of the magma on the layers above cause it to spurt up through the channel and flash-fry my miner, as

code:

MMMMMMMMRRRRM__ - zlevel +1
MMMMMMMMMMMMMRR - zlevel  0

The following is pasted from the wiki, which incidentally has a link right at the top of the forum.

"Magma Flow

Magma will not flow UP stairs. It will flow DOWN them just fine. Update: Toady mentioned this has to do with magma using the 'chunky' fluid flow, which does not respect pressure."

Oh, and how about keeping your simple question threads to the subforum designated for questions, hmm?
