Oh, right, I almost forgot, and in hindsight, I only left this out because it was an absolute pain in the ass to track.

In the original light novels and anime, moves were restricted by something called a 'Special Gauge', like most you'd see in normal fighting games. That way, people wouldn't spam moves normally. I removed it because I felt it was really too much work to put in and I wanted to use less mechanics, but if you would like, I could place it in.
Maybe just make it an abstract stat like HP.

While I'm not the GM and perhaps it's balanced by having little in the way of defense, I'd think a default 25% chance to dodge that can go up to 50% is a bit OP for level 1 gear.

I don't know. If my suggestion is worth anything: Have the gauge be based on Willpower, since that's not doing much right now, and instead of number give it "Charges", with every move using up a number of charges based on power or something. If they regenerate in the show, then have them regenerate by some number per turn. This gives people incentive to save them for when they really need them, but also negates "Too Awesome To Use" syndrome.

And now to go work on backstory stuff.

Akroma's character has an ability that passively gives a 25% chance to dodge, that rises to 50% if they analyze the enemy's attacks, regardless of whether there would otherwise be any accuracy check at all.

EDIT: Oh, and once defenses are analyzed there's a passive 25% chance to do 150% damage. Again at level 1.

The reason I'm leery about putting in Special Gauges is that it adds another mechanic when I want this game to be mechanic light anyway.
