WHOLE EMPIRES WIPED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH!

Hundreds killed with the click of a mouse! With a press of the delete key! The biggest genocide the world has ever seen!

#Deleting cores of units from the save folder because my framerate was too low

There's a thing in your process history that can cause all kinds of problems. It's called explorer.exe, and you should end it anytime you see it. I also recommend downloading a few random screensavers. The processes they run in the background will grease the ions that dwarf fortress uses.

Your computer might be dirty. Give it a good sponge bath (make sure to leave it plugged in). Also put a strong magnet on your hard drive. This will pull out all the evil glitch gremlins that are corrupting your data.

Actually, you should release the magic smoke from your computer. Too much smoke is trapped inside, clogging the computer. Try leeching some of the smoke from it. Be careful, smoke leeching is a delicate process and can destroy the computer! Only consult licensed computer technicians for the leeching process.
