Name: Cassidy McTeague
Appearance: Cassidy stands at 6'1, 185 Pounds. He has short black dreadlocks, caramel skin and green eyes. He has a few scars on his body, but none are large or significantly visible. Hailing from the frigid north, he is commonly seen wearing heavy winter clothing.
Bio: Cassidy grew up in Atlanta, Georgia but accepted a Psychology Scholarship to the University of Minnesota where he now studies. It was here that Cassidy developed a hobby in Outdoorsmanship, and whenever school would get to overbearing he would take to the woods and mountains, fishing, hunting, and camping. When the power grid fell, Cassidy had no idea what happened at first, and simply assumed that all of his electronics were faulty.

 -Charles Birwell
Appearance:
 -A 5'8" male in his early 20s who used to weigh round about 280lb. Has a head of long, messy, blondish brown hair that he occasionally cuts off when it interferes too bady with his glasses. Pale skin, brown eyes, has a bit of an odor problem. He is almost always seen wearing blue jeans, a t-shirt, and an old olive M65 field jacket.
Bio:
 -Charles grew up moving from Massachusetts to Upstate New York and back again, reading large amounts of books as he went. He was particularly fond of "Hard" Science Fiction, military history, and living more-or-less off the grid. Indeed, one may say he was a bit of a proto-prepper, even going so far as to keep a small stock of tinned food in his room at all times, just in case.
Skills:
 -Low levels outdoorsmanship, mechanics, electrics, farming, rifles. Jack of many trades, master of none at all.

Also, uh, is the solar flare the only thing that happened? While blackouts would be annoying in real life, they are hardly rich in targets for all our rocket launchers.

Well when the electricity went out for the entire US, at least in this setting, society has fallen apart.
Most cars don't work, large farms are having issues, etc.
