One Piece in Space, D-Ration users cannot wear space suits, they have to have a certain volume of material between them and the vacuum of space, or start suffering radiation sickness from plotstuff

No, I mean they cannot use Space suits, they HAVE to be on a ship or a planet.

If they wear a space suit and try to brave the void, Boom, Plotstuff Radiation sickness.

So they cannot "Swim" in space if they eat a D-ration.

if nobodys around when youre sinking you die

No, it is functionally the same effect, you get weak, and almost unconscious and delirious, the same way Devil Fruit users do when they touch seawater.
