"I'm doing my job, Lieutenant Governor. I'm in charge of our military operations, and I do intend to fully consider our options. Gathering intelligence and making plans is simply the smart thing to do."

The Lieutenant Governor, a young, bookish man in the corner, listens intently to the conversation for a minute, before speaking, sounding nearly accentless from his years of travelling.

"Gentlemen, while you are drawing up battle plans to conquer our neighbors, Virginia is crumbling. May I make the radical suggestion that we get our house in order before going to war?"
"That was the primary proposal behind my New New Deal."

We can't forget our resources. We have the college of William and Mary, UVA, West Virginia, and VCU. We have plenty of colleges to research.

"I think we need to use our colleges to gather research without a doubt...
I have to say that having all my student loan debt not have to be paid back anymore is probably the only good part about this apocalypse. "

Emilia turns to Eleanor with a completely straight face and says "Student loan debt will follow you into the apocalypse. Give it time, they will come for what they are due."

Emilia shrugs. "Welcome to the wondrous world of banking."

"I am still strongly of the opinion that Columbus is not currently a viable target. Of the two cities you seem to want to take, governor, I would more recommend planning for Pittsburgh."

Arisa turns to her colleagues Eleanor and Uriah

"About our technology, we stuck with what we got from fallout of the war, if we want better equipment or to bring ourselfs back up to standards were going to need a healthy research budget, with access to best minds to help achieve that. Invading the south sure be possible but we have no indicator of what resources and equipment they could field."[/color

Arisa thought for a moment before talking.

"If my department is provided with decent budget and governer lets me proceed with potentially ethical questionable research."

She thens clicks her tongue and proceeds. "For enviromental effects we could modify our current crops if dna maps are still available if not we would need to spend time mapping them out again but with luck we could increase yield by large amount and have crops grow vitamins. As for traces of radioactivity left over from nuclear weapons and other such containments we could invest in growing bacteria capable of eating the particles left over, which would make the areas suitable for habitant much sooner. We could also look into developing more medcines such as insulin, asprin to help our population."

"Another idea might be to begin a project into developing helper robots for sick/elderly or for transport/military purposes as my thesis in Tokyo University was about developing home caretakers but this project might take a good while to show progress."

Correct. What we could do is send about 10 soldiers and 2 scientists into Norfolk. Not only could we see if there is any salvageable ships, and develop a navy. Also, we could research bacteria. Soldiers would be there to protect them against any threats, such as gangs of raiders.

Also would need approval from Chief Of Staff to move troops.

This map contains some of our immediate neighbors. Red is Virginia, Orange is the Carolinian Confederation, Green is Southern Ohioan Republic, Blue is the Kingdom of Central Ohio, Blue is the United Southern Pennsylvanian Tribes, Grey is the Kingdom of Susquehanna, Yellow is Delaware and Brown is the Steel Giants. I think this has some options on it.
