DoW 2 had a lot more MOBA elements than DoW 3, so please stop calling DoW 3 a MOBA.
No?
It really didn't. Also, disclaimer: I like the AoS/MOBA/Whatever genre. DoW2 was a small-scale tactics game that focused on fewer combatants in exchange for more micro. It's skirmish mode was about map control and had dreadful, dreadful AI and balance. Also the campaign was really fun, as was Last Stand.

DoW2 was Company of Heroes remade into 40k. That is not a bad thing, the system worked well. DoW1 was a real time strategy base builder. DoW3 seems to be a 40k moba. I wonder if DoW4 will be a roleplaying game.

Well... What was the cancelled project? Dark Millennium? I kind of wish that was a thing. Would probably be better than this soon-to-be-released-garbage.

Maybe one day there will be 40k game in the spirit of Total War. That would be nice.

Eh... I've never really found the more gun-based Total Wars good, and the way they do big blocks of combatants wouldn't really work too well for more advanced weaponry, I don't think.

Personally I always think a 40K game in the style of Mass Effect would be amazing. A Spectre is basically an Inquisitor, anyway.

They're making three total warhammers, so I don't see why the fourth one could be Total Warhammer 40k.

Was hopeful about this one, damn shame really. Oh well, guess I'll keep playing the old ones in that case, been doing that with every other RTS anyways :I

Also, I think the Wargame style of game would work much better for 40k. Or rather, a modification of it, like Steel Division is, modified to accomodate melee in some way too. Hell, could upscale it a bit from there and go directly into Apo, that would be awesome.

That would be fantastic actually, and exactly what DoW needs!

A wargame 40k mod would be incredible. I've always thought Wargame would be a great game to mod from, and I'm imagining the reason there aren't more mods for it is that TCs are pretty much impossible.

Whilst you'd need to be able to significantly increase the unit count, I wouldn't feel there's much of a need to add melee in honestly - I'm sure you could fudge it with extremely short range, high damage weaponry.

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

Having watched a few streams I'm probably in the minority here but I'm excited by what I see. It may not be as good as the previous titles but I like how it looks and plays so far.

I enjoyed the DoW 2 campaign but honestly only because of the RPG-systems. The actual missions were trash except for one or two highly scripted ones. And I think I played about half a dozen MP matches before I decided it was basically 1 to 4 players chasing each other around a shoebox spamming hero abilities at each other and never went back.

I want a proper RTS game set in 40k. I'm sick of all this derivative garbage that was clearly inspired by some guy going "What are the kids playing today? League of Legends? DOTA? We gotta get in on that shit and make an e-sports title so we can sell people $20 characters!" I guess it had to be though. 40k games have reached the point where if there is a genre of game, any genre, then no one thinks twice about just slapping a 40k skin on it.

Can't wait for my 40k-styled waifu high school dating sim.

Swarmlord-san!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Tyraii!!!!!!

Related, I just saw some recorded stream footage... goodamn, it looks so bland. It doesn't even look 40k-y. Where's the grimdark? obviously I haven't played it, but it looks wildly unoriginal. If it WASN'T a DoW game, I might even say oh look a new RTS how nice to see, but it IS a DoW game, and there's just no DoW in there. Weak. Also, seems too small scale still. I'm probably biased because of Ultimate Apocalypse. [Insert endless stream of hatred here]

Endless Stream of Hatred would be a nice name for a coffee shop, maybe one with 40K theme. Grimdark coffee from skull mugs. (Sorry for the shitpost.)
