Gotta love the standard-fair optimism of the game's industry, where no one can ever be happy and no one can ever change things! Because remember, kids, when anything ever happens in the industry, or something is shown to us, it is obviously set in stone and can never change ever!
Can you name a game that looked bad at its press presentation and got good by release? Cause I'm struggling to think of one. At most they sorta get salvaged to be meh. Usually if anything the press presentation is flattering compared to what we actually get.

The trailer plus an interview/commentary kind of thing, in English this time.

Apparently those yellow rays are lascannons.

... so. Are. Are sustained beam lascannons something that's part of canon, or is it just some kind of tech heresy?

E: Also, not going to lie, I think that comment about "so many units on screen" or whatever it was may have pissed me off a little. DoW1 was looking down on that with disappointment.

E2: And yeah, there may have been some instinctive revulsion when gabby started hitting things. Looked so bloody out of place for warhammer. Brutally efficient centuries old geneengineered might-as-well-be-machine of war... tosses his hammer up like a parade baton. It twirls. What the hell have they done to you gabby ;_;

E3: I mean. I could see it on a harlequin or slanneshi or somethin'. But a space marine chapter master? No. Just... no.

Hey! don't look down on Gabby! the only thing he wanted in life was to become a baton twirler in a parade.

I just got this horrible mental image of a long line of space marines, indomitably and rather enthusiastically, all doing the can-can towards the enemy while gabby cheers them on, twirling his hammer at the head of the parade.

It is a good pain.

But yeah... watched some more unadulterated (and muted -- after that one linked here I figured it's maybe better for me if they don't talk) gameplay footage it... doesn't quite invoke that sense of instinctive revulsion? There's still quite a lot of stuff that's got me pretty conflicted, substantially so in regards to aesthetics (gabby still kinda' pisses me off seeing him fight more, as do the dreadnaughts' AoE effect, all the shiny makes it even harder to tell what's going on than DoW1's style did, etc., etc.) and somewhat less so in regards to shown gameplay (those flamer squads -- worst kind of micro. Knight's abilities also look really unresponsive, at the moment. Some other stuff. Infantry squads looked a fair bit too DoW2 for me in constitution, numbers are better shown but it's still largely "less than DoW1" levels), but... well. With the sound off and the viewpoint less... constricted, I guess, it's a lot less like the footage was specifically designed to get under the skin of someone who has played DoW1 (and DoW2, to a lesser degree). Looks a bit more interesting, somewhat less irritating. Does look largely like they're going for "Between DoW 1 & 2" instead of better than either, which is, like. Not anything towards the hopes I was starting to get. But it's a thing.

I'unno, basically m'at the point I'm now not quite interested but no longer inclined towards setting the gameplay footage on fire and sinking it into a swamp. Have to wait until closer to release, I guess.

As someone who couldn't stand DOW1 and enjoyed DOW2, this 3rd iteration doesn't look promising to me.

I'm interested, but I do hope they tone down some of it a tad bit.

Based on that video, the combat animations seem to range from boring to ridiculous with no middle ground and very little variation.

so basically they removed the best part of dow 2 the cover system, made heroes even more OP and important ( if you look at that video you made as well have solaria and gabriel going at it alone for all the good those marines seem to do) the battles are not one bit larger than in two,

Eldar are squishy as fuck and deal almost no damage, the corpses on the field look like crap, gabriel is playing cheerleader, the voice acting is eeeh,
the graphics lack the proper warhammer oomph, marine squads come now exclusively in the plasma gun flavor...and this looks overall very very disappointing.

Jeez im rarely this negative about games but this is not what warhammer is supposed to be, when is this supposed to be released again? Do we have hope that they will recant the error of their ways?
