Gathering up those who were wanting to go to town, as well as the merchant's wagon, Syrgan begins leading the 'deserters' to town. Ludmilla, however, was not having it. Her authority, nay, her very honor had just been sullied. "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH SYRGAN! I challenge you to a duel. One on one, just you and me." The intent in her eyes was clear to Syrgan as he brought his horse to a halt and dismounted, "I accept. We'll do this as is by law of Valkain. No pets. No weapons beside our blades. Your lance versus my sheathed blade." Syrgan removed his quiver and bow and took his stance. Meanwhile, Ludmilla dismounted Mikhail, grabbing her lance and taking her stance.

It was Geliebte who gave the signal, both Ludmilla and Syrgan taking their charge towards each other. It was Ludmilla who made the first move, bringing her lance plunging towards Syrgan, who dropped a smokebomb with a smirk, blinding sight in the area, "I am Tarm Guard..."

It was Syrgan who was left standing after the smoke cleared, Ludmilla's head in the hand. Her body was kneeling on the ground, her weapon laying beside her. He held the head high and spoke, "When a person is chosen for the Tarm Guard, tehy are assigned a teacher, to assess them and judge them. Upon failing, their life is forfeit. I have judge Royal retainer Ludmilla Yeningoroth an unworthy prospect, and dispense the kings will upon her. May St. Esbel have mercy on her unworthy soul." He drops the head beside the body and look towards the bear, "And by the king's will, I release you from your duty, Mikhail." He points back towards the path they traversed from, and orders the bear to return. The bear walks away lazily as Syrgan drags Ludmilla's body and head off the road. when he finishes, he returns back to the compete caravan, "Starting now, I am leading this caravan. We still have a mission to complete, as well as a noble girl to bring back. Is my leadership acceptable?" He asked, a warmness returning to his voice.
