So there's your answer TBF. You need backstory, which should have been blatantly obvious and not need to be explicitly said when there's a backstory section to your sheet and literally everyone else with complete sheets has backstories.

Have they faced hardships because of it? What was their life like before this? What caused them to join the adventurers ("God said so" is not an option, you are not hearing the voice of a god)? It's not that hard.
