I imagine everyone will die at least once. It's just they probably won't stay dead. Heck, some of the characters might have died before already. I could make a list of the ways each character might have died before or something.

...Actually, that's an interesting idea for the church; maybe they sometimes revive people who don't have the money to afford it, and those people have to adventure for them to pay it off.

There's usually a bit of RP between game start and first combat though, right? So just open with that and let people finish their sheets while the ready ones RP.

Death is but a simple setback, especially for a member of a family of very successful smiths. Doubly so when you are informed of resurrectional facilities from the day you picked up a hammer. _{forges are hot}

Dead, alive, Shina doesn't exactly care. She's seen enough resurrections (given her goddess is the goddess of healing) to know it could happen to her.

Probably won't because A) her race is more or less the fantasy version of the burakumin and B) more important people to save.
