Corruption Mafia - Game over! Outsider TheDarkStar wins!

The Mindscape, haven of those who seek enlightenment atop the high mountains and secluded valleys of the world. For centuries those steeped in its mysteries have been able to communicate with one another through the Mindscape, exchanging ideas and knowledge to further their shared goal of attaining enlightenment.

But now, now something sinister has found the mindscape. Dangerous ideas are spreading, infecting the minds of the Seekers and poisoning them to the very nature of the Mindscape. It is an insidious Corruption of thought, one not easily spotted or easily resisted. And a mind too corrupted will be unable to maintain their connection to the Mindscape.

Why this Corruption has come, and what anyone would gain from it you do not know. But you must find the source of the Corruption and root it out before all hope of attaining Enlightenment is gone.




Corruption Mafia is a special twist on the normal mafia game, where it is the spread of Corruption between posts that forms the core of the scum gameplay rather than night kills. The ‘town’ players must, as always, work together to find and vote the Scum out of the mindscape before the Scum drives them all out instead.

Signups are now Open. The game needs at least 9 players and can go up to 13.

Rules:

Corruption Mafia is a semi-closed game. The basic information about available town roles will be known. However, I will only give a general description of each role that will give an indication of what the role can do. More specific information will be given in role PMs as necessary. This means you will not know the specific rules of many of the roles, even if you know what they do. There may also be variations on the town roles, both within a game and between games.

Scum and 3rd party role information is not going to be posted in the thread.

All players are Town Aligned unless noted otherwise in their Role PM.

This game relies heavily on my abilities as Board Moderator to edit posts. There will be a lot of it, and most powers in the game involve editing posts in one way or another.

Usually, this will involve spreading Corruption. Posts can also be Pure as well, and there is a spectrum that posts can reflect based on the color of the text.

Pure - Clear - Normal - Tainted - Corrupted

Fully Corrupted posts are the most dangerous for town. A player with too many Corrupted posts (3) will be killed at the Start of the day.

3rd Party roles may introduce effects of other colors.


For my sanity, all votes must be in Red and on their own line. Fingers of Suspicion likewise must in Blue and on their own line. I don’t want to try to deal with too much in-line color swapping as I modify stuff.

Ties will result in a No-Lynch occuring.


Days will go for 72 hours (Ignoring weekends) or until everyone has voted (if there is a long period of inactivity after everyone votes I'll end the day to keep things moving).
    In the event of a tie, no lynch will occur.

Night will go for 24 hours, though that's somewhat flexible. If you do not have your action in within the 24 hours you run the risk of losing your action for the night, though. If you choose not to use your action, please send that instead of just waiting for me to get on with the night without you.

  Extensions: Extensions require at least 25% of the living players requesting an extension. Votes against the extension will reduce the counted number requesting (so, of 8 players if 3 vote for an extension and one votes against it it's still 2 for, which is 25%, which grants the extension.)
Extensions will extend the day by 24 hours. No more then two extensions will be granted on any given game day.

  Shortens: Shortening the day has a larger impact than Extensions, so it requires 75% of the living players requesting it to succeed. If the Game is Shortened it will end as soon as I do the tally with 75%+ players voting for it. It is possible that I will end all voting for the day but need a bit to do the final write-up, in which case further votes will not be counted that day.

  Speaking While Dead: The dead may post once after they have died to comment on their death. They may not provide any information about the game in this post. After this, any posting in the game before it has ended will result in a one game ban from future games. Repeated abuse, or posts that have a major impact on the game, can result in a permaban from any future games.


  Scum, and some third parties will have special chat areas on http://www.quicktopic.com. I will PM the appropriate link to you at the start of the game or when you die.

  There will be a Dead Chat for this game


  Event Order: The order of events is generally as follows:
    Misdirection
    Role-blocking
    Protection
    Investigations
    Post Edits
    Purges

Possible Town Roles:
  Disciple of Iron Will - More resistant to Corruption.
  Disciple of the Polished Stone - Reflects the spread of effects
  Disciple of the Open Mind - Magnifies the effects of spread effects
  Disciple of the Third Eye - Can tell who changed their posts
  Disciple of the Narrow Path - Can prevent the spread of effects
  Disciple of the Flowing River - Can spread effects between posts
  Disciple of the Wellspring - Can infuse their posts with Purity
  Disciple of the Mindscape - Can purge all effects on a post of theirs

Same for Lime and green?

Also, I don't see the difference between clear and normal.

I assume you're using the black background then. Clear is beige. and is imposible to see on the white background.

Meph, can you change the color of clear? Maybe to brown?

Hmm. I'll play with it, find something better then. Beige was working fine on my monitor, but clearly that won't work for everyone.

If it was meant to be invisible on the white background, Transparent works. example: Transparent. If it's supposed to be visible and obvious, Teal might work. Or my fave, cyan.

It's supposed to be easily visible and not eye-searing. Beige looked good on both dark and white backgrounds on my monitor but..eh. Hopefully the new color works well for people.
