I'm not sure if it actually exists, but I think there is a solar power plant in the Mojave near black mountain. One could make a detour, and if you could fabricate a liquid oxidizer, you could make gasoline a viable option.

Looks like someone plays fallout . There are three of the things you are thinking of, Solar One, Solar Two, and Solar Tres of the SOLAR project. One and two got scrapped/mothballed and three is under construction. And while we could burn LOX (our suits *probably* use liquid oxygen two get several days worth) it kinda would feel like a waste, since we could breath it instead .

True. But what about separating the oxidizer out of gunpowder, or using old rust in some sort of chemical reaction making oxygen and pure/alloyed iron. Like I said, anything you can think of can be done.

Desecrating gunpowder is a sin. That aside, I guess there are plenty of oxidizers we really wouldn't want to breath . Electrolysis would probably be our best bet in the long run, if we can find enough water to do it...

The solar power plant would suffice. Or a nuclear plant. They make electricity, electricity plus water equals oxygen and hydrogen. Easy enough, only thing is finding a nuclear plant that hasn't had a meltdown/solar plant with enough panels for generating power.

Yeah, that would be electrolysis . We will still need a large supply of water to support that. In the mean time, ammonium nitrate fertilizer can make an oxidizer for our fuel (and explosives, if we feel like it ), which is probably easier to find in a rural area.

That was mostly a joke . It does act as an oxidizer, but adding it to fuel (such as diesel) makes the explosive ANFO. It is used as an oxidizer in rocket fuel, which is a good deal different than car fuel .
