By "informal" I meant street fights and the like, which would include slamming someone's face into a nearby edged object to break the helmet open. Plus, if you couldn't break the helmets, lots of fun in combat and possible dramatic tension is taken out.

You can break it. With bullets. See here, starting at ~2:30 for melee weapons vs Lexan (a trade name for polycarbinate). Theoretically something that spreads a lot of force over a small area (like putting a in then hitting it with a sledge hammer) would have better results. Slamming it into solid rock wouldn't do much, especially if you are both in heavy suits.

I just think the idea of people in space suits trying to punch each other to death is funny :P. Its really, really ineffective when you have any other option available.

Let's see...wiki says .75 inches of polycarbonate can stop 3 9mm bullets at testing standards.1.03 inches can block 3 3.57 magnum round, and 1.25 inches can block 3 .44 magnum rounds. You would have an easier time ripping the helmet off than breaking it :P. And there is still the fact it would basically be like fighting in one of those inflatable sumo-suits and the fights she participates in will be super silly in my eyes :p.

First. Yes gravity does still exist. The air is the only missing, besides most of the standing water. Most of it boiled away and is now reforming what little bit of atmosphere it can, but that won't really affect the pressure differential or the lack of weather.

Second. If you put spikes on your fist, that would be really F***ING cool and would shatter the visor on anyone you punch.

Third. My mother gave me my phone back, so I can post today.

SB you need to put some numbers on hand to hand combat to give an effect.

Culise, you do know that gasoline vehicles/engines will not work without some oxygen. But you can do anything with the right enginuity. But I like it.

The logical solution would be to use electric vehicles like they do in space. In addition to not needing oxygen to run, the effect of solar panels increases enough to make them a valid option in the long run. Finding one might be a problem though :P.

Stirk's plan works again! As we are *probably* going to be mostly fighting other humans in suits, piercing weapons that can ruin the enemy's oxygen supply make more sense.

I'm not sure if it actually exists, but I think there is a solar power plant in the Mojave near black mountain. One could make a detour, and if you could fabricate a liquid oxidizer, you could make gasoline a viable option.
