[Ronald vs ghoul roll: 4 x 1]

You take a knife out of your pocket and dive straight into action while irradiated ghoul is still recovering from charging at you. You make deep cuts in mutants stomach and black, dense ichor slowly flows out of wounds. Ghoul screams in pain, and then tries to bite you in knife-weilding hand. You were quicker and with a strong punch you stun the ghoul, then stab in the throat. Mutant tries to scream in agony, but it's able to let out only a short gurgle. Lots of radioactive ichor spilled out of the throat wound, covering your knife and your hands.

[5] There's no way to say if the ichor was radioactive since you don't have a geiger counter! You've got an uneasy feeling about this. The substance dries quickly and falls off your hands, you notice that your skin feels and looks younger.

[4] Luckily nothing more was attracted by sounds of battle.

- Hello? - you yell to anything that is right behind you.

[4] The thing that is breathing heavily finally comes closer to you - it's a walking corpse! You jump back from it and it mutters:

- Safe... Take safe... Rescue...

You look at the dirty, tattered uniform that the corpse is wearing - you think that it belonged to members of rescue team that evacuated inhabitants of the Zone during the incident. The corpse was breathing heavily because of gas mask that's still on it's head. The mutant wants you to come with it, to a safe place.

[5] You strike the patrolling soldier in the back of the head with rifle stock. The soldier silently falls on the ground, you drag the body to a small storeroom that is nearby and take his uniform, then immobilize him with tape that was left in there.

Feeling tired and barely alive, you think that you won't be able to find a safer spot than this. You'll have to sleep here, but first you must somehow get sure that nothing would try to kill you during sleeping. Then you've got an idea to use nearby anomaly as a trap.

[4] You grab some dirt and throw it around the anomaly, finding it's edge. The area is irregularly shaped and quite big, and there's a small niche inside, where no monster could get you!

"Uh. OK. One thing, Do you happen to have a spare Gieger counter? I left mine in the shop."

((All of them 4's and 5's - and the only 1 belonged to a mutant. What the hell?!))

Well, that just showed me what the substance does. Maybe it'd be better to write what things are only once we find out.

((That was just in the turn - skin getting younger (regeneration) and radioactivity (radiation roll). It'd take really long before he'd find a way to discover what the substance did without it. And it was just to start with substances by an example... ))

[5] You go deeper into the woods, slowly finding your way through dense vegetation. Wandering close to borders of anomaly you quickly found a way to the lake.

You make sure that the area is free of anomalies first, and then you go closer to the shore. The water is dim and muddy, fumes go out of it. You take a geiger counter out of your bag and turn it on. It is indicating raised radiation level around the shore.

Wander around looking for the guy to trade my artifact to and pick up some throwing rocks while I do.

- Helloooooooooooo? - you shout out, trying to find anyone in this wasteland. Nobody answers.

[1] You try to recall the way to a strange man that hired you to find this artifact, but memory seems to be your weaker side. You'll have to follow your intuition again.

[4] You sit down on a small rock and start pondering from which point you got here and where can be closest entrance to The Zone. Then a gut feeling tells you that one path in the forest looked familiar. You followed it, picking up a few rocks and ended on the same hill where you've found an artifact. From here there is an easy way to dude that hired you, and now owes you money for finding the artifact!

Mark the pathway into the nook carefully with a couple of stones, maybe kick some dirt loose, and then take a nap. Mutants won't find their way in, but I am sure that people will even if I didn't. either that, or they'll shoot me.

After searching the guard for any weapons and valuables, wake him up at gunpoint, it's interrogation time.
