An
exquisite corpse is a collaborative round-robin work where the artists don't communicate with each other and can only see what the previous one has done. What if we applied this principle to Dwarf Fortress?
[insert fort name here]
I'm not sure if this has been done before, but I plan to make this more a small-scale proof of concept than a massive project spanning several months.
Rules, in no particular order:
- As you play, take screenshots and write about what you're doing, things that happen, etc. This can be as in or out of character as you'd like. Don't post any of this publicly.
- Feel free to post in this thread, but avoid giving any specific details about the fort.
- Tilesets and tools such as Therapist are okay, but don't add any mods, edit the raws, or otherwise change the content of the game.
- Each turn will last two in-game years or one real life week, whichever is less. After your turn, PM me links to the save and world files, screenshots and writeup. I will PM the save and world files to the next player, and add the writeup to the story to be posted after the fort is complete.
- If the fortress falls, return to the save I gave you, but include this in your writeup. Otherwise, don't savescum, except to circumvent bugs.
- If you have problems or questions, PM me.
First player:
- Create the world and select the site however you'd like, but avoid extreme challenges such as no-item embarks and evil glaciers. Don't make it too easy, either.
- Give the fort and group witty names. Dwarven language has no words for 'exquisite' or 'corpse', sadly.
After everyone is done, I will compile the writeups and screenshots into one volume and post the whole history of this fort for everyone to see what kind of a trainwreck it is.
I would like six players (and a replacement or two in case of schedule conflict or disinterest); first come, first served. The turn order will be randomized, and not revealed until everyone has had their turn. I won't be participating as a player, to avoid the temptation of reading the files before it's time.
Players, in arbitrary order:
- snackfox
- Elanorea
- kleanea
- Tablen Arue
- Gwolfski
- A Thing
Replacements, just in case:
