I'll take a turn too, let's hope I'm not the first player otherwise this fort will be a crawling, writhing labyrinth of inefficiency. I also don't really mind writeups being edited for typos\grammar hiccups as long as the edited wording and sentence structure gets the same ideas across.

That makes six, then. Randomizing turn order and PMing the first player now.

E: Done.

You may want to specify what format you wish the saves to be in.  Several graphics packs change the vanilla symbols and colors around.  (I suppose that if someone applied a graphics pack to the save, that saying so next to the link for the save game might work as well.  Then, if the next in line needs to change it, they at least have a place to start from.)

I didn't know this. I thought tilesets and graphic sets worked by editing the game's files, rather than the save's.

It's probably a good idea to mention which set you used when you return the save, as suggested. We could follow the principle to the letter and not communicate even that, but this seems like something that may break things if left unaddressed.

right.1 get the starter pack here www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=126076.0
2 after saves are in the save folder, run the starter pack
3 a window pops up
4 one of the tabs say 'graphics' or similar
5 in tab, select required tile set. ASCII is default
6 click install tileset AND update savegames.

I'd like to join in, though I have the feel that tileset shenanigans will lead to trouble.

Just now am I realizing the futility of this thread, since we can't talk about the game.

What if there were a second thread? Or, if that's against a rule or something, previous overseers could post their progress in a spoiler, and future players would just have to stop themselves from opening said spoiler.
Might be missing something important. If not, hope this suggestion is useful.
