It's your browser.  Adragis is also using IE, whereas all the people on Chrome are just fine.

I think your problem is what seems to be an insistence on transparent text. I see nothing there without highlighting.

And is it so hard to just use a color that's visible to both default and darkling?

You should try other browsers sometime.

But it's weird that Chrome can render things just fine and IE chokes on it.
