Do all books made from quires say 'made from an unknown artifact' in Legends?

All written quires are considered artifacts. Books are also currently bugged in that they lose a lot of information about their materials.

At least his moaning and chain rattling will be in key and hopefully entertaining.

Because 15 years ago it was perceived as a cute fortress simulator to supplement Slaves to Armok. Completely irrelevant point now that the aim is "To create a fantasy world simulator in which it is possible to take part in a rich history, occupying a variety of roles through the course of several games."

I see a final version in many years time as being a satisfying blend of site management and adventuring roles in which neither is perceived to be the 'main' version.

You know the completion of the next arc sees the ability (in vanilla) to turn off dwarves altogether, right?

Screw it, my nerves and mental health have been wasted enough for one month, I don't need more BS arguments in my brain so I deleted what I had to say and what I had to say wasn't all at nice.

Can we at least get a TL;DR version? We have no idea who you were getting angry at, and there's so many different choices here.

My only beef with Adventure mode is that it keeps dropping me in either isolated fortresses with no exits, or places surrounded with tunnels full of GCS. I can't get into Fortress building if there's nobody around to bring with me, and if I keep getting one-shotted by wildlife.

If they expand the starting scenarios for adventure mode so you can get into the fortress building more easily, I'll be all over that shit.

This got me furious at the time:

It's called Dwarf Fortress for a reason buddy.

I basically said that I have a love/hate relationship with strategy and if DF was fort mode only. I would be dead (killed self).

To put it mildly I said "fuck off" to all of you hardcore strategy lovers. Because I was pretty much forced only to play strategy as a child during school times so no RPG games nor action/shooter games. I honestly can't tell much more than that as thinking back to that time boils my blood to this day and I start struggling to remain civil.

EDIT: Honestly no offense meant for you hardcore strategy lovers. You're probably an okay folk. It's just my own disability nowadays to properly play most of the strategy without dropping some sort of a bomb. I can't multi-task is one of the reasons too, probably yet another damage done by the events of the past as I used to be good at strategy for most of the time.

But the mental brain damage is done. Thus I just can't play strategy or any game for that matter without cheating somehow. Anyhow that's the story and I must stop before do something really hostile again. Also as a final note here: DF fort mode is a lot more complex, difficult and an extreme thinking requiring thing that I just can't play it at all and I lack patience big time. I'm sorry but I can't.. if you are gonna force that shit on me you'll end up worse than a mutilated dwarf. That's just how much pure hate I have towards strategy if it's too difficult.

EDIT2: How would you feel like if you were forced only to play something you didn't like in the first place? And how would you feel if DF started off as adv-mode only thing? Yeah, though so. Not pleasant. And this is basically my approach to how I play strategy nowadays if I can manage:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
One guy/unit to annihilate them all. Fun for me at least. Better than unfun and boring slog of planning and frustration.

Current fort mode barely counts as a strategy game, IMO. Basically half of it is fighting with the UI, stockpiles, and unnecessary item hauling. You can turtle if you need, squads become godlike from just a year or so of training (faster with live targets, e.g., wildlife,) and traps are overpowered.

It's more resource/planning like SimCity.

Ah, this all still means a lot of multi-tasking to be effective at playing.

Well, at least you can pause the game.

I tend to completely forget about certain side projects, though. It's difficult to build something requiring step-by-step assembly, while also forbidding metal furniture (that needed to be engraved under) from being hauled slowly (an entire month) all the way back down to the magma forges.

Local temporary 1x1 stockpile(s) and adjustment of distant stockpile parameters?

Personally, though, if I do no other engraver assignments, when I set up a new room for furniture I smooth the spots where furniture will go (and mark for dumping any rubble sitting on those tiles, if it hasn't got a stockpile ready to accept it, so that it doesn't just get shuffled about and block adjacent tiles and possibly suspend building of other furniture items). It's a good visual guide (as "+"s quickly appear out of the rubble-and-raw-floor room footprint) and means I only need to unbuild furniture if I'm actually upgrading to an item of higher value in that same spot.

(Not an Adventure Mode thing, but felt it worth revealing my own techniques regardless.)

You can't put stockpiles on buildings, so you have to hope it ends up on an adjacent tile. If you let the stockpile take from anywhere, it'll be filled with other items. The distant stockpile is for meltable goods and completed forge items, and is working well enough that I don't want to touch it.

The best thing would be a specific stockpile close by, but then we're back to the pain of stockpile management.

The silver furniture thing is more of a one-time problem, but the general issue also comes up with any sort of deconstruction project. Even with a nearby stockpile, the items are all tasked unusable until a dwarf (no doubt a mile away path-wise) reaches them, causing you to select far away items for reconstruction. It's a shame they won't deconstruct buildings with pre-forbidden items.

Just an idea. Another might be to forbid the component furniture, before designating deconstruction. I'm sure the former does not prevent the latter, and should leave the item unmoved from its deconstruction site until you're ready to either rebuild it or perform whatever micromanagng you can do to a loose item that you can't whilst still built.

Also your point still was (in describing just this example scenario) how even the ability to pause doesn't guarantee (semi-)omnipotence to match your (sort of) omniscience in Fortress Mode, which is still something to consider when it comes to comparing and classifying game-modes.
