Bandits, maybe?

Stay out of sight and figure out what's going on before getting involved.

Also, a Serial Editor. Just in case, do check my previous post to see if I didn't change or added to it. I do that, a lot...

Staying up high, you try to get an overall view of the situation.

The fire and chaos down there is bad, but you can say that this attack is definately by an organized group.  There are also several hundred attackers, which strikes you as a lot.  It's hard to say what their goals are, and who is leading who, though, as the fire and the constant motion makes it hard to see anything as important.

With that, the vision fades.

The weather this week is good, cool and comfortable, despite the expected summer heat.  Rumors, however, are swirling viciously through the mage's quarter.  Apparently someone has managed to transmute the elements, or at least that's what you are hearing.  That could be interesting.

Practice goes well, with you following up on your progress last week.  You feel just about ready to test for your next grade, which would be some good news.  Work is busy, but there are no problems completing your deliveries in a timely fashion.  Your somewhat mysterious handler also has no work for you, although she says that next week will be fairly likely.

You have time for two actions this week.

Get the right contacts for an international voyage. Also language learning.

Huan Zhang can find you a boat.  Or a teacher.  Booking on your own the boat will be leaving at the end of the week.

No.  Neither an international voyage nor language learning is a good idea yet; we don't even know which country we need to go to, or what language they speak!

We should talk to one of the spirit people, try to find some way to get in better contact with our spirits.  Maybe that'll let us force some prophetic knowledge.  Failing that, trying to gain some political clout would be good, as we're going to need the practice... but I really don't have the foggiest idea where to start on that one.

Okay, definitely visit the spirit reader.  Don't pay up front, if we decide to leave we can pay with that favor instead.  We want to ask our spirits where the force we're trying to stop is--is it across the sea?  If so, which Nation?  Is it nearby, on this side?  Far, even farther than the sea?

okay, next action will be to visit the spirit reader

Min li says she would be happy to make another attempt to reach the spirits.  She wants five silver for expenses, and three weeks to prepare for it.  The money will be payable after the attempt.

Yeah, another handler job seems like a good idea.

Edit:Oh, and next week we should spend an action quitting our messenger job.  Or just walk off the job if we can't quit without wasting two more actions on it.  The pay is trivial, we aren't hurting for cash, and time is quite valuable for us.
