((Ok, it's a bit meta, but Dev's been saying that The Enemy has been having bad rolls, and we've been having good ones. If we leave now, we'll have a relative advantage, while if we wait, things will even out a bit.
I have been asking to go out and adventure since before that, though.))

I think one more rumor gathering trip is necessary before we can say where we need to go. Perhaps focus on more unusual rumors? Sailors probably have heard a lot, and with their fast ships their rumors are fresh.

With that in mind, you head down to the docks and try to find some sailors from the warship to chat with.  After a couple of hours, you get talked into a drinking game with a couple of sailors from a runner's boat.  You don't remember much of the night, but you had a good time and held your own with the drinks.  Sadly, that came up pretty empty.

Ask your handler for another job or something else?

Is there any kind of training that we could do for free in one action? Practicing in our own time or something.
If not, ask for a job, but don't accept anything that we can't back out of in at most three weeks.

Yes, you can spend an action training.  As for whether or not you can complete a job in three weeks, that's your decision to make.

Money is a waste of our time. The clock is ticking, and some coins certainly aren't going to be what decides the winner.
More training.

Ask for a job.  Training can be done any time, but a job will get us more money so we can survive to train longer.

You decide to ask your handler for another job.  She greets you as you come in, and this time has something for you.

"There's a mettalurgist in the mages quarter who is selling bars of paktong to foreigners illegally.  It is only legal to sell finished paktong goods, and only in limited quantities with high tariff rates.  This is because of the ability of it to counterfeit real silver goods.

Anyway, his shop has been searched, and the goods haven't been found, yet he is still selling them.  I want you to find the metal, or watch him making it, and report it to me."

You agree to take the job.

The weather is beautiful, with bright sun and fluffy clouds, a fine week of summer weather.  Not too much happens, as the city is fairly empty from most of the rich finding excuses to go out into the countryside, and the poor finding life relatively easy.  The biggest you hear of is some of the gate guards finding excuses to double up on bribes and seizures.

Your work is also easy, with many officials out of town, there are fewer messages than usual, and your work takes much less time than normal.  Training goes okay, with you getting more accustomed to your bronze weapon.  You feel there is still a long way to go before you could count yourself as a professional.

There is time for three actions this week.

1. Do the job we was asked for. Disguising as a customer if it is even relatively possible, or even as a middleman who handles transferring of goods.

2. Try again that rumor mapping quest we botched last time. Stay away from sailors this time.

3. More sword training on free time.

Sure, but with two sword trainings instead of intel gathering.
