Obviously go buy a weapon! The bigger and badder the better! And also a SWORDCANE, so we can be deadly, discreet, and dapper all at once!
+1 we should also try to figure out where we can get some sword lessons.

Ask her about the starry sky and possible constellations. If the image of stars is clearly enough in her mind, she should draw it down so we can show it to astrologists and astronimists.

A good sword might be rather expensive. After we have wasted our money on it, we totally should START MAKING SOME MONEY! In other words, figure out our money making possibilities, illegal ones included.

Narrowing it down, first we need quick money to raise our working capital by some means. Are we willing to become criminals for that purpose? Sell state secrets to foreign diplomats? Playing spy sounds like fun.

Make a plan how to get in contact with representatives of foreign powers so we can play a spy for them. Or play double spy.

Also look around for opportunities for training to be the great hero that you are and will become. Stuff like fighting, magic, and whatever shit rogues do.
And figure out how much learning that shit will cost, we're not made of dosh bro.

With that finished, you decide that, one way or another, you're going to need a weapon before this is over.  You decide that it would be better to get one in advance, rather than at the last moment.

You move through the city, looking at smith's shops and weapon merchants, looking at spears, jian, sabres, daggers, and a particulary nice looking glaive.  For some reason, none of them speak to you.

Shrugging, you begin to wander through the merchant quarters, reaching a cluttered room above a noodle shop, where perhaps a dozen high-quality weapons are in racks along one side.  Tucked in the corner is a cobwebbed stand featuring a decrepit old set of scale armor, with a helmet still showing traces of paint, below a sketch of a dark-haired young man.

The proprietor, an aged grandfather, with scars showing past military service, asks what you are looking for.

As almost dictated by story and tradition, you come clean to him, telling him of your messages and your need.  With a blank expression, he asks if you know anything of weapons.  "No", you respond.

He then tells you that he has many fine weapons here, but a weapon is only as good as it's weilder.  In addition to knowing how to use a weapon, you need to know how to maintain it.  How to polish it, clean it, sharpen it, as a mistreated weapon will fail you when you most need it.  He then looks you over more closely.

He then asks how much money you have.  Swept up in the moment, you tell him the truth.  Seventeen silver coins.

With that, the grandfather goes quiet, and mutters something under his breath.

He then tells you to wait, while he disappears through a small door in the back of the room.  A few moments later, he returns with an excellent lacquered wooden scabbard, for a short straight-sided blade within.

He then draws the blade out, and oddly, instead of steel it is bronze, decorated with unreadable characters running up the blade, and a pattern of darker diamonds running up and down the length of the weapon.  It looks quite unlike any you've ever seen, and you feel that it should be yours.

With that, the grandfather says that the cost of it is seventeen silver coins, as both he and his grandfather paid for it with all they had at the time.  He then scratches one of his arms with the weapon, draws blood, cleans the blade with a white cloth, and sheathes it.  He then hands you the black wooden scabbard.

You take the deal.  He then hands you a few similar white rags, and warns you that it must draw blood and be properly sheathed before it can be put down, and that when placed down, it will return to your place of rest unbidden.  And that if it is to be properly transferred, the price for it is all the other person has.  It would be a bad thing if it is given or stolen.

He then adds that it is one of the finest blades he has ever seen in his life, and it will remain sharp, never tarnish, and never break, should it be carried for two thousand years.  With that, he bids you goodbye.

Briefly consider the possibility that you were just ripped off for all of your money in exchange for a shitty bronze weapon while you have no job.

Planning it out, it seems that if you want to hire yourself out as a foreign spy, you would need to make contact with one of the ambassadors or permanent diplomats here.  You would also need to do so un-noticed by local spies or observers in order to not be marked as a known spy, and treated as such.  You figure that contact is made more difficult by not knowing any foreign languages, and that avoiding being marked will be nigh-impossible without a cover; a reason to make contact with the foreigner other than being a spy.

As you are, you figure the best way to make money out of foreign spying is if you can acquire very important intelligence and sell that to an ambassador, a technique that should only work once, but should pay off very well if successful.  Of course, there may be risks after the fact..

A more likely option would be working for the Empire, as you aren't important enough to be under observation, and have a friend who likely either has spies of his own, or knows someone who does.  Without his help it should still be possible, but with his help it should be all but certain to enter the business.

Spying is no profession worthy of a (soon to be) PROUD AND GLORIOUS WARRIOR such as us. Neither is a dumb ripoff nonmagical crappy bronze sword! Test the godsdamn thing!

Yeah, not a fan of playing spy right now myself. It's an option we can keep in mind, but unless we really need money right now or we starve, I think we should explore other options first. Also, is there a reason we didn't get to decide whether or not we wanted to buy that weapon for literally all we have? Seems like a big decision to have it automated.

Maybe we should do some research on whether we could contact the authorities about our prophetic dreams. If we back if up by confirmation of 2 spirit readers, is it likely we'd be heard by the local lord? Or would he or she sooner just ignore our warnings?
