Also ask the spirits who/what they are. Are they specific spirits of something or from somewhere?

Maybe also ask if there a way for us to easily communicate with them directly without needing spirit readers, some sort of meditation technique or whatever.

Those are the six questions?  There is some redundancy between #1 and #2.  Is that okay?

We'll probably wanna wait for what the other players think before we commit though, it's a suggestion game after all. If nobody gives good reasons against it within reasonable time, go for it I guess.

"Why the spirits want you to do this" is reduntant question by itself. Most likely because they want to stop it. Their reasons for "why" are not that important. More important to know is why we would want to obey them, and that comes from knowing consequences.

(I did make up my own list.  ;-p)

With the questions settled, it's time to begin.

You are taken to a medium-sized building in the government quarter, that looks similar to many other offices for scribes, copyists, or professional merchants.  Inside, you are put into a wooden room with a well-lacquered floor.  On each of the walls is a pair of inscribed metal bars, hung vertically, and spaced away from the wall with thin horizontal bamboo slats.  You notice one of each pair has three slats and the other has two.

You are asked to sit down in a chair in the middle of the room.  Then a panel facing the chair is removed, and you see the reader sit down in a chair in the adjoining room.

A few minutes pass.  You can hear the clattering as the three-slat metal rod shakes, with one of the slats breaking, followed closely by the other two.  After that happens, the spirit reader gets up and moves some objects around in the other room.  Then, she sits down and sets things back in motion again... or at least as much motion as there can be when everything is static.

After further time passes, the second set of metal bars breaks their bamboo slats, and she returns to your room.

"I don't know how helpful this will be to you and your cause, but what I recieved in response for your first question was an image of a starry sky."

"I'm afraid that's all I could manage to draw from them.  There might be more benefit to another attempt in the future, but I'd like warning to prepare before trying again."

"As for my fee, it would normally be five silver.  However, if you allow me to document your case fully, and agree to return for a few brief consultations in the future, I will waive my fee."

Obviously go buy a weapon! The bigger and badder the better! And also a SWORDCANE, so we can be deadly, discreet, and dapper all at once!
