Holding place for NAV.

Information is useless if it isn't used timely. Might as well get started with amassing those porcelain gifts. Though it may not be wise to blow our entire savings on it in case it doesn't turn out profitable.

I have no idea about value of money here. Give me a ballpark estimate what 5 silvers is worth.

Yeah, let's try to capitalize on this opportunity if we can. Gather information about where we could find similar pieces, who we could contact for this, acquaint ourselves with the price range these go in, etc.

Basically, let's try out that 'making plans' mechanic, applied to the action of 'make money off of the porcelain shortage'. Then next action we can actually go for it with better odds of succeeding.

Deciding to trade in the pieces, you quickly come to the conclusion that it would be better to buy pieces from those coming into the city, as the artisans inside the city already know of the shortage, and then to sell them to people inside the city.  With that in mind, you should have an advantage in trading with them.

Trading basically comes down to two things;  buying low, and selling high.  You figure this shortage will help with selling high, and you should be able to get normal prices from people coming into the city.

Gained Porcelain trading plan.  Buy porcelain at normal prices, sell at an advantage.

With that done, the week passes.

The new week comes in with some unexpected weather, and a mild gale and rainstorm keeps most ships in the harbour.  Things are generally wet and miserable this week.

The wind and rain also reduces the number of people travelling to the city, as the caravan routes are lousy.  On the plus side, the taverns, boarding houses, and service industries are experiencing busy weeks, as traders and visitors end up extending their stays.

There is one further bit of poor news, however, this rain and dirt are exhausting to work with as a servant, due to frequent cleaning being required, and you have less time than expected available.

Sorry guys, the dice didn't like you this week.

How much is our work as a servant earning us per week? If we dropped it, would we get more actions per week? If yes, how may?

Also, unless people have a better idea, I'd say we try to activate plan porcelain procedure.

1 silver.  There is a chance for good things to happen like the bad.  If you drop it, you get five actions for being unemployed.  You can walk off the job without taking an action, but that might destroy the relationship with your employer.

I suggest that it might be a good idea to wait gor next week to enact the plan, it doesn't expire for two weeks, and we might find it easier to find a trader when the storm's cleared.
Instead, search the local library for things that might be related to our dream.

Question: if we attempt to enact a plan but fail, can we try again on a later week?

Agreed with Egan. Hold off the porcelain plan until weather clears up.

Also, does the city host any dream explainers? Might as well use those services after checking the library.

Was afraid that waiting might throw in complications into the plan (such as other parties moving in this/next week as competition) that would ruin our chances, but waiting and nerding it up in the library is fine by me.

Question for the gm: when it says in this case that the plan 'expires' in two weeks, does that just mean it will go like planned in that duration, or can complications still crop up? Eg. if we want to try and use our porcelain plan next week, is it possible that by then the opportunity isn't there anymore because others capitalized on it this week, even though the plan itself hasn't expired?

Investigate the dream

You decide to spend your time this week trying to find stories and explanations about your dream through bookstores and libraries.

Dreams as prophetic visions appear repeatedly in stories, sometimes sent by benificent spirits, sometimes as acts of malice by evil or mischevious ones.  Some works on augury mention dream visions and dream spells to be used by people for various reasons, but the references are limited.  This makes some sense, as you know that magicians and augurs of various kinds tend to be jealous of their secrets, and hence reluctant to commit them to paper.

Nevertheless, you feel convinced that this is a thing that could happen, even if it doesn't happen often, and although incomplete, you feel there is a reason for what you have been shown, and more may come in the future.

You might also try to have a priest or a spirit reader assist you if you want more information.

In this case, the time limit is because the festival is in three weeks, so the opportunity will no longer be there.  You could still trade normally, but you wouldn't have the benefit of the recent event.

If something ends badly, you may or may not end up being able to try it again, depending on how badly it fails and what the plan is.  For something like trade opportunities, you could probably try it more than once.

The weather continues bad, although the rain and wind both lessen some.  The trade vessels sheltering from the storm start leaving port.  The somewhat cramped state of the travellers and traders has caused some tensions to rise in the merchant quarters, but the city guard is keeping things peaceful.

Fortunately, the mud is under control again, and the week goes smoothly for you at work.

More fortunately, you have a sense of optimism this week, as if the sense of doom is somewhat lightened.  You have no specific source of this feeling.

(With the current plan, we have:

Maximum of 6.5 silver profit
Maximum of 4.5 silver loss

61.8% chance of a profit
31.3% chance of a loss
6.7% chance of neither profit or loss

6.7% chance of at least 5 silver profit
8.3% chance of 1 silver profit, the most likely single outcome

Statistics are fun!)

Sounds like time to go with the porcelain plan.

I want to check in with a spirit reader. My gut feeling says priests are not the best option for this.
