This seems inoptimal.  All the same, murder is definitely inoptimal.

I guess we've pretty much failed at this point?  Not much to do against an active ship that's setting out, unless we really do go with Egan's idea of pulling a Kenway and try to murder the entire crew.

I guess just camp out anyway, maybe an officer is for some reason not aboard, and we can stab them before they get back.

You watch the ship for a while, and you can hear some hammering and sawing.  They must be doing some repairs, and replacing supplies that got burnt, which makes it seem odd that they would be pushing off if there's still work to be done on the ship.  In addition, there is still burnt stuff being brought above and set on the dock.

You do see an officer come on deck carrying another burnt cask.  It's someone you haven't seen before, but he's clearly giving orders.  There's about ten people on deck at this time.

Just bumping it.  I'd really like the tie broken, or some new orders, please.

And you guys are aware that failing the mission isn't the same as death, right?

I'd say we drop this one. Sunk cost fallacy already claimed a couple turns, lets not let it claim our lives as well.

Funk it, board the ship and swordfight everyone.

I'M TIRED OF WAITING, DO THIS.

Welp.

You draw your sword, and march up the dock, towards the gangplank.  You can hear the flow of conversation change as people catch sight of your weapon.

You proceed straight towards the officer you spotted, and decide to start with him.  He spots you coming at the last moment, and drops the crate, but is not quite fast enough to get away from your well-aimed strike.  He's down with blood spurting from his neck.  The rest of the crew shouts and starts heading towards you.  There are about ten of them on deck, with two between you and the dockside gunwale, and two more between you and the waterside.  In your haste, you can't remember if any of them had useful weapons.

You feel like you've done enough to complete the mission, should you survive this.  What's your next move?

Swim to safety.

Amendment to the swimming actions: Jump off the dock side, so we're closer to an actual escape.  Don't make it look like we're trying to escape though--just charge towards the two guys blocking our path, sword raised, screaming bloody murder.  Hopefully we can intimidate them into just not blocking our path, but if not, kill them too.

Oh, and just before we jump off, yell something about coming back for the rest of them.  Sailors are a paranoid lot, maybe that'll help a little.

Oh, and just before we jump off, yell something about coming back for the rest of them.  Sailors are a paranoid lot, maybe that'll help a little.

You swing your sword agressively and try to earn space so that you can jump off the ship.  It doesn't quite work, but one of the sailors backs up and trips over a coil of rope.  The remaining three press in, and one of them has a knife.  You block the knife thrust quite expertly and knock it from that sailor's hand, dodge one of the other sailor's grabs, but the last one, ah, the last one, gets a hand on you.

You need to get off the ship.  You swing around and go to stab the guy, the last one between you and freedom, but he ducks your blow, barely in time.  Then he presses forward, low to the ground, and you have no ground to give up, with the others all around you.  You are brought down to the ground, and the man has his knee on your chest and his hand on your throat.  You can hear others shouting about the officer, calling for the captain, and can see the confused and angry expressions of those above you.
