You take the job.

You have two actions this week, so you might wish to think of it that way.  Do you wish to spend an action planning the ambush out, or do you want to just do something specific setting up the ambush?  Either way, it'll be one action for the ambush, leaving one more for something else.  You are also not required to fulfill the mission this week.

Also, a plan doesn't help you, but it will reveal what the series of rolls will be for pulling off the ambush, which may help you make decisions as to what to do to improve the odds.

Did the employer ask for any specific message to be delivered?
Spend the action planning.

Also, we're aware that there are powerful spirits sending us dreams all the time, but this seems graver. We might need some amulets or maybe an exorcism: our orders are for a beating, not a murder; still, either a bloodthirsty spirit is trying to change us into a monster, or a psychopathic serial killer's ghost is trying to possess us...

Pretty straightforward.  This is the guy, go beat him up.  Interpretation is up to you.

Thinking through it, there's a few variables at work.  You could go into the bar and beat him up there, but you don't know if anyone would help him, or if it's the kind of bar where that sort of thing would be normal.

On the street or somewhere else it'll be more obvious if there's anyone around to help him, but it'll be a bit harder suprising Du when you don't know where he's going.  You could also follow him around and hit him somewhere else, which could work out much better.

In any case, you're also not sure how good Du is at fighting.  You don't think your boss would lie to you about what Du is, but he could just be a gofer or a crook with no ability, or he could know a few things.  Also, the more time you spend investigating and poking into things, the more chance there is you'll get noticed.. which could lead to problems if the Golden River Gang cares about what happens to Du.

-edit- One action remains.

Tail him for two actions to learn his route, then ambush with the sword. Try to acquire some face covering.

Yeah, let's spend the action planning.  We don't have much better to do, I don't think.

Oh, one action remains.  Sorry guys.  And if you want to tail him, please let me know if you want to go into the bar or avoid doing so.

Best to avoid the bar, but tail him to see if there are good ambush points on his route, and where he lives (and with whom).

Wait outside the bar, then follow him as he leaves. And tailing might be best for next week, our last action can be used to TRAIN.

Wait outside the bar, then follow him as he leaves. And tailing might be best for next week, our last action can be used to TRAIN.

Later that evening.. a heavily drunken short guy with a broken nose staggers out of the bar.  Cautiously, you follow him, although there's little to be worried about someone three sheets to the wind.  More practically, someone else might take advantage of his condition, and competition would not do you any good.

You follow him through a few blocks, and almost run into an ambush yourself.  You turn a corner, and you see a woman eyeing up Du Quinbao, with her hand deep in her pocket.  She notices you, and your sword, and backs down.

The drunken man proceeds further, and you watch him slowly make his way around, through a few dark streets, to bang on an unremarkable door.  Instead of being let in, someone shouts at the drunk to piss off and to go to where he actually lives.  Quinbao starts trying to shout back, but he's too drunk, and just starts staggering around the building.  A few moments later you see him fall on his butt in an alleyway, insensitate.

Well, this is an opportunity..  do you want to get it done now?
