Okay, you're going to let it draw blood, then.

...

Nothing happens.  It's sheathed, and you put it down in your room.

Anyway, you decide to observe and make contact with the student.  In the course of a short hour, you make out a woman dressed in nondescript robes calling on him, and leaving with a prepared document.  Immediately after she leaves, several other students head in, and they have a wine cask with them.  A few moments later, you can hear revelry starting inside, and you sneak in just as one of the partiers leaves for whatever reason.

You then find your way upstairs, and the party is heading out, and you recognize the original student leaving, slightly more red-nosed.  You catch the door open behind them, and they all tumble down the stairs oblivious to your presence.

Inside you find that he has three rooms.  A sitting room with a small table, a bookshelf with about a dozen titles, and three simple wooden chairs.  A bedroom, with a plain sleeping mat and a small closet, and an office, more decorated with some wall hangings, a couple unlit lamps, and a more solid looking desk with a padded chair behind, and another plain chair for visitors.  In the corner is a hatstand, with a formal magistrate's cap on it, sans ribbon, befitting a student.

On the desk is ink and brush, a wooden stand, an unlit candle, and the metal seal you are looking to recover.

Simply recover the seal and leave without touching anything. We will leave no trace of our presence, silent and deadly, like a ninja.

Afterwards, bring the seal back to our house, and eat it to gain it's powers. +3 governmental authority!

Take the seal. Look around a bit, then take the brush and paint "Stealing is not a virtue" in big letters on the wall. Then leave.

No need to ruin perfectly good wall. Just write the message on any free piece of paper and place it where the student will find it.
Before we leave and return the seal, take a look if we can find anything that can be used to track down his customers.

But look for his customers' info, yeah.

That's three for searching, but I need someone to break the tie on note-leaving.  One for obvious, one for less obvious, one for nothing.

Okay.

You search the room, turning up a few coins in a desk drawer (+1 silver), but little else.  You then take the seal, and tuck it away without leaving a message or disturbing anything.

Do you continue to search, or are you ready to leave?

Let's move on instead and go collect our reward. Observe the seal, while we're at it. Is it shiny?

Yeah, let's move on then. Hopefully our new boss doesn't rise bar to high for being so lucky.

With that, you leave the building, and head off to your employer, who looks quite impressed, and, following a quick debriefing, counts out fifteen silver for quick service.

How do you fill the rest of the week?

Search around for a way to get martial training. Never know when we might need this. Except we do know that we'll need it when we go it beat up Evil, so best to get on it.

I'm visioning us more like a man in background who hires all the armies and heroes to do battling for him. But yeah, training in martial arts is never bad. Since we have a sword already, let's focus on sword training. If no one is willing to train actually us, then I suppose library will have some basic trianing manuals. Assuming there is a public library.

Now, what else we can do? We are going to fight formless Evil, so knowing how to deal with spirits can be handy too. Let's see if we can get some training in spirit warding or something equivalent. Hopefully not in completely outragous price. Perhaps Min Li can point us in correct direction?

That is exactly not what I want us to do. Also, I think we are female? It might be ambiguous?
