Of course! You're a military scientist in the Queen's Finest. Some regard your role as cushy, and unfit for the honour of Queen's Finest, but you know the truth. You know without your mind, the war machine of the Colony would fall apart. Your inventions allow the infantry to secure their objectives and ultimately win wars. Speaking of, what is your latest invention?

Using furnaces made from brick taken from the Wall That Surrounds the Yard, fueled by dry grass and sticks taken from the Surface and excrement from the Colony's nurseries, which is ignited using sunlight focused by glass obtained from the Human Nest, we have melted down scraps of metal found in the Yard and shaped them using clay molds in order to make sturdy implements.

TL;DR we invented a method of mass-producing metal implements, which combined with other tools and wood, the technique can be used to make basic stainless steel WEAPONS.

Ah, right. You use materials -- some man-made, some by the earth herself -- to forge weapons of the strong steel you can manage. It was a chore to get the Command Council to greenlight your steel for implementation, but after refitting 500 spears and 250 helmets with your metal, the results spoke for themselves.

You're in the laboratory again, polishing your invention and checking your brain for any ways you might be able to improve the forgery process when you are summoned by two Guard Roles who stand at attention outside your door.

"The Queen has requested audience with you. Your presence is demanded in the royal chamber at once!"

You're about to ask what the nature of the summons is before one of the guard responds, as if he read your very mind. "Your scientific expertise is required in the Royal Chamber. Leave and make your way there now. More will be explained upon your arrival.

Making a mental checklist of what you need to get to, you decide to . . .

Grab stuff we might need for analysis and calculation before heading there.

You quickly grab a few of your important Science Role things and follow the Guard Roles to the Royal Entrance. You know the thought of a non-combat arms Role having audience with the Queen disgusts them, as if the mere thought of such has a taste. After ten minutes of walking, you admire the grand double-doors before you, shining in brick and metals salvaged from the Surface.

"This one is clean", one of the guards spit. Upon walking through the open doors, the sight that awaited you wasn't as grand as you'd thought. Perhaps this is one of the Royals' spare rooms or old nurseries?

You catch sight of her. Of Her. Your Queen, mother, and god. The very heart and source of the Colony! Her beauty is indescribable. You're almost sure she makes a mistake when you catch yourself and realise she hasn't yet spoken to you, and two guards stand idle a few yards behind you.

"Leave us", she orders. They want to protest, but alas cannot. Her Crown Cohort -- special protectors of the Royals -- usher them out, as well as make themselves scarce. Once they all leave, the Queen eyes you curiously. She stands, her curvy figure intimidating you when compared to your thin and meagre one.

"So. You are the Science Role I've sent for that I've heard much talk about. Tell me, what is your name?"

You quickly find yourself and take a knee before answering her.

"Ah", she purrs. "I see. You are the one I've heard about. I know you wonder why you've been summoned here. Well, it's rather simple. You know of the Termite Inquisition, do you not?"

You nod slowly, still making sure you aren't hallucinating that the Queen is addressing you in her chambers privately. You aren't a member of the Elite, or even the Crown Guard.

"Then you know we've been in a brutal war since the Queen before me took the crown. I am young in my years, yes, but not in my competency. However", she pauses to step closer to you, leaning on a near-by table with a hand supporting her body. "It seems that not every ant in the Colony agrees. I wonder . . . do you agree with such a sentiment? Am I an incompetent queen?"

"I would not know, my Queen.

I know not of the details of the war, merely that I am to work to further our efforts within it.

I have no right to judge."
