Yes, you could survive by surrendering and agreeing to become a puppet of the Empire. Taking you over is less advantageous than having you as a vassal state would be, it would give us less armies and research abilities.

Requirements for surrender:
-HH Turns over all blueprints for technology
-HH 'allies' with The Empire, and agrees to listen to everything it says to the letter.
-The Empire will place defensive troops in the HH capital. For protection, of course. The HH's own troops will be removed to the Empire's new boarders for protection.
-The HH's old capital will be returned after a period of time long enough to prove the HH is loyal and useful.
-The Empire reserves the right to change the treaty at the will of The Emperor.
