Completely coincidentally, someone slides up to Alric and all (wherever they are). He looks about their age but, judging by his appearance and smell, has been living off in the streets for a long time. Scruffy would be a polite way of describing his looks, especially the mat of dirty-blonde hair on his head, and he has a small pack of essentials on his back. "Hey. You have something of mine. I need it back," he declares, without an introduction or any other formalities. He glances towards the dufflebag, in a way to indicate that he knows exactly what is in it and wants it now.

[Rowan who?  Oh wait, this guy?]

"Excuse me while I just make sure I'm giving the thing in question back to the right person."

[USEC_OFFICER]

The guy leans in, "You don't understand. I need it back now. Right now."

[TheBiggerFish]

"What's your name."

Alric manages to pull off a rather good passionless bureacrat impression.

I haven't got to hold it yet!

[USEC_OFFICER]

"I am Rowan Dusek. Now stop stalling and hand it over before I am forced into action."

[TheBiggerFish]

"All right, here you go."

[Well, it was nice to meet you.  Goodbye.]

Rowan gets the sword.

"Irene, please go away.  Thank you."

I...had kinda hoped that....I know this is really stupid but that the sword is like magic or something and my powers would awaken or something if I held it...

"Rowan, if only to get her to stop talking about it, do you mind?"

[USEC_OFFICER]

"All right, here you go."

[Well, it was nice to meet you.  Goodbye.]

Rowan gets the sword.

Rowan snatches the weapon from Alric's hands and cradles it in his arms for a moment, slowly stroking the blade. Then he slides it into a scabbard on his back, cunningly placed between his meagre possessions so that it's almost invisible. "You have my profound thanks. I would have killed myself if something had happened to it." The tone of his voice suggests that he's not joking around.

"Rowan, if only to get her to stop talking about it, do you mind?"

"No. Nobody touches it but me." After a moment's hesitation, with his head cocked to the side like he's listening fo some internal monologue, he adds, "And anyone she tells me to. But you can only touch it, not hold it."
