And Alric gets to see it as Haruka reverently lifts the object from the duffel bag, taking care to keep it pointed away from Alric.

It's a sword. Specifically, a tachi-type sword, well-crafted and seemingly pristine, despite appearing by all crafting signs to have been forged centuries ago. There are no special markings on it whatsoever; indeed, it looks very plain.
