The Khan absorbs every word as his ring discusses solutions.

"My Ring... This input has been varied, but extraordinarily useful. No doubt this issue is of utmost importance; as this first step, this first parley, will show now only the people of this city, but of all future peoples we might come across how the Great Clan resolves disputes." He raises a staff, then a dagger. "With wisdom or bravery; with naivety or brashness... I have come to a decision."

"We shall ask them here for a neutral summit. Master of Scouts, send a trusted man to deliver the proposal. In the event they reject this, we shall meet them in person, a small group of Masters with trusted warriors. I must go. As has been said, I've less than impressed the clanfolk, so I must show some initiative. I feel the clan is now stable enough for some of you to take leave, but I will not enforce this demand upon any one. First, volunteers. Varin, you have already expressed interest, it will be duly noted. Anyone else willing to escort me and a small, elite guard into the city speak now."

Varin nods affirmatively when his name is mentioned.

"It is not my place to go and meet these strangers, but I will spread the news among the Clan of these happenings and do my best to dispel the rumors that have already no doubt begun to sprout, to do my best to keep the peace-until the parley returns safely.

It will be important that the peace we may make, will not collapse due to misunderstanding. I remember the Tale of Bale Blackbarrow! He warred with his own sister for decades-because one day their respective hunting parties, both seeking the same boar, had happened to run into one another chance. Mistaking one another for bandits, they began to fight...if I remember correctly, she had him roasted on a spit after the war ended, forty years later..."
Tyra said, recalling a fairly gruesome tale.

"Anyway, I have two issues to present to the Ring before I retire..."

She explained about finding the Fertility Idol, and what the Godi had said.

"This is indeed a powerful treasure. As the Good Drake says, 'A treasure of foreigners is a treasure all the same.' The clan can use this in several ways, Master. We can sacrifice it to learn more of these foreign gods, but they may not react well; we can create a shrine for it, so as to show tentative respect to these foreign gods, though I'm unsure how our gods will react; or we can simply keep it in our hoard so as to gain its benefits: fertility of earth and womb. There may come a time where we can trade it away as well, if it's kept in our hoard."

"I found it, so I ordered it added to our treasure hoard, for now. I felt it's powers myself-they are not insubstantial, and wholly good and wholesome...though, the powers are of these foreign Gods, and not our own. I merely ask if the ring feels my decision was the correct one." She said confidently, implying that yes, it was absolutely the correct decision.

...

"Second and lastly, I have heard much agreement from the clan members, with my proposal to brand this the End of the Age of Wind and Wrack-and the Beginning of the Age of Death and Rebirth. This will mainly relate to historical documentation and lore, but also send a powerful message to our people-that we do not forget all we have lost, nor our drive to rise from the ashes-like the Lheonix[sic] of legends old.

I would brand this year, AODR 1. Beginning a new calendar, to trace the new stars with. Is that not fitting?"

The Kan continues. "I appreciate everyone's resolve, but only a few need risk themselves. I choose Nix, Moreau, and Ara to accompany me, if it comes to the second option. Layleth, you must stay here so that in the case of my capture or death there will be someone to rise in my absence." The 'boy' khan may be young, but he's taken his responsibility to heart, it seems.

"And so the plan is set. As for Tyra and her idol... I find we should need all the strength we can muster in the coming weeks. Yours was a wise decision, we need not offend these foreign gods, even if it may not sit well with our ancestors. As for the new Age..." A subtle change in his voice, for a moment he is no longer a Khan, but a son who has lost his family. "I believe it is appropriate. But I have a request. We shall add another day to the Festivals of the New Turn. Ten days, one for each of the five and five, have always been the tradition. A time of merriment and renewal... But, I say another day, the eleventh, for our Ancestors. From the past far beyond, and those who've left us so recently."

Bowing his head, Nix spoke: "It is an honour to be chosen as your guard, my khan."

I thank you for allowing me this opportunity. Surely this will be an adventure that is second only to those of Pixius. May the gods guide us to knowledge, truth, and understanding.

The Khan regains his authoritative tone as he continues. "If it comes to it, I know each of my chosen Masters will perform their duties. And the rest of you, should the worse occur, are capable in handling the clan. This, my confidence, I wanted you to be assured of."

"Are there any other concerns before I bring forth my own?"
