Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Unofficial slogan of Bay 12 Games.

Don't forget there are three designs per turn, not just one.

Hey, bisons and horses don't co-exist.

Don't forget about the tigers.

So, fire is probably going in, and already suggested are:

Farming
Pottery
Dog domestication
Archery
Spear throwers
Axes
Wheels
What I think is some form of root cellar

Personally, I think farming and pottery are the best bets, but thats probably just me

In my opinion, farming can wait a little bit more.
Afterall, farming wasn't really discovered until.. uuh.. I think I'll have to google things..

Most places found out about farming before they settled in one spot, or otherwise had a reliable food source like fishing.

Then there are the semi-permanent settlements/camps that almost every group used at some point...

Name: Pain Light
Description: Fire. Made by rubbing two sticks together among dry grass.
Resources: Stick, Grass

Name: Clay/Pottery
Description: There is mud that is fun to make shapes with and gets harder than other mud. Often found near river. What happens if we try drying things in really hot sun?
Resources: Clay (TO BE FOUND)
Additional: If fire is discovered, try putting clay items in edge of fire, or in hot ash.

Name: Get Doggies
Description: Snarls are good hunters, hunt with their pack. If catch at young age, can we make us their pack and have them hunt with us?
Resources:-

Name: Throwing Stick
Description: If we take long stick, put notch in end so that it can cup end of another stick, hold notched stick and put pointy stick into notch, can we use notched stick to throw pointy stick farther?
Resources: Pointy stick(many), big stick, sharp rock as too.
Well fine, if no one wants bloody fire, have this suggestion:

Name: Chop Stick
Description: A celtic axe. Essentially a rock shoved through a hole in a hard stick. Makes cutting small trees more efficient, and cutting bigger trees possible.
Resources: Sharp Rock, Stick

What I think is some form of root cellar
Food storage, ambush hole, really, it ought serve for general purpose preservation and concealment needs...

But mostly, I want to unlock a close-fitting sheet of sticks for use in the construction of solid-goods buckets, rafts, doors... all sorts of good stuff...

Spoiler: What we have (click to show/hide)

ooc- With the Sleep Hut, we no longer move as a whole, so we can expand out home defenses as there are predators about.

Either we dig holes, make a pit with stakes / spears.

Or build walls or pallisades.
Based on the resource of trees, and our hand-held rock blades, we can make an axe of sort that can chop bigger trees for wood.
to make a wall?

Another thought, we are hunting animals.  What can we do to utilize this resource?

We get meat -- do we seek preservatives, ways to make the large mass of meat from spoiling?
Perhaps "salt" to make dried meat?

We need more protein for long term energy. Plants or farms may be nice, but we don't have time to wait for it to be ready for harvest.

Also, if we can use some preservatives, we can also make use of the animal skins, perhaps learn tanning and make leather clothing for protection from elements and scratches at least.

Propose:

Name: Chop Poke (tool / weapon) [pickaxe]
Description: Stick long as bone. Sharp Rock shape flat and sharp on one end, and pointy on other end.  Secured on end of long stick with rope.
Resources: Long Stick and Rock. Tool: Sharp Rock and Rope.

Name: Salt (resource)
Description: Sea water and sometimes river water taste salty and not good for drink.  Wet straw and let it dry leaves small white rocks (salt), taste salty.  Shake straw and collect salt.
Resources: Sea water, Straw
edit salt, failed copy paste.

Name: Dry Meat (tech)
Description: Cut meat from animal, add salt and let dry hanging on tree with rope, or on straws.
Make meat not spoil as fast, good to take when hunting and riding.
Resources: Meat, Salt: Sharp Rock, Straw, Rope.

Not really getting consensus on anything except for fire.  Anything else you are going to try to make?

We have "Occupations" but what do they do for our tribe in terms of tech?
Chief - leader ?
Elders - wisdom, knowledge ?
Hunters - fighting, meat
Gatherers - food
Sharpeners - rock weapon
Braiders - rope tools
Riders - horse trainers, scout

That's mostly flavour text to let you see what type of professions there are within the tribe.  I don't have any mechanics tied into those at the current time.
