Just passing by to say I voted Remain, despite my own Euroscepticism following the EU's handling of the crisis in Greece and my general disillusionment with the EU project as of late. My prediction right now is that the vote will be very close in England. England could even have voted in favour of Brexit, but Scotland will be firmly in favour of the EU. I'll also go further and suggest that if England has voted in favour of leaving, Scotland's pro-EU vote will be sufficient to swing the result in favour of Remain regardless. I believe one pro-Brexit campaigner attempted to tone down any hope of "Leave" victories in Scottish local authorities, describing their campaign as "essentially farting against thunder". I know the first Scottish constituency was just announced - specifically Orkney, which voted 63% in favour of the EU.

I may have to moderate my predictions somewhat given how close the Newcastle result was. The significant thing there is that Newcastle is a "University Town", and formerly one of the places expected to vote about 60/40 in favour of the EU. That does not bode well for Remain at all. I really have no idea how England is going to vote, it's going to be an interesting night. Keep an eye out for anyone at the BBC calling a 55/45 Remain victory anything less than a "convincing majority" - if they call it anything approaching "narrow victory" then we have a bit of a problem on our hands re: editorial balance.

What happens after irregardless of result will be a rather interesting prospect, since the campaigns got quite bitter towards the end

"Brexit" were conceding in that Nigel Farage started making vague statements about Remain "just edging it" based on his old friends in the financial sector down in the City of London. He has been quite incoherent as of late though. We should also note that Brexit only expected to win Sunderland by 6 points, when they actually won by 22. The £ has also dropped from 1.50 to 1.44 in the last hour. This could go anywhere - I'm sticking with my "narrow Remain victory" prediction.
