Yeah, I guess EU students that wanted to apply to the UK will get shafted.

...I'm not a student (for the record)

It's not a life-and-death issue either. I'll probably have a job  near home nonetheless. But I like widening my options (a 45 million population base is ok. But a 45+65million population base is even better)

It's a shame because I had already translated my university and speciality certificates, and had the paperwork underway.

In voting to leave the EU, it is vital to stress there is no need for haste, and as the prime minister has said, nothing will change in the short term except how to give effect to the will of the people and to extracate this country from the supranational system. There is no need to invoke article 50.

And to those who may be anxious both at home and abroad, this does not mean that the United Kingdom will be in anyway less united, it does not mean it will be any less European. I want to speak directly to the millions of people who did not vote for this outcome, especially young people who may feel that this decision involves somehow pulling up the drawbridge because i think the very opposite is true..

Apparently the Leave politicians are rapidly reconsidering their options. What a twist~

Part of me half wonders if the disputed cow route could be a thing. 52% of population takes 52% of the country and leaves, 48% of the country takes the rest and stays in EU. The schadenfreude would literally split nations :V

Makes sense. It's to our benefit to slow things down right now - prevents Juncker from making an example out of us and deterring other EU exits, and also to give a chance for other general elections to take place that might put more UK-friendly God-Emperors governments in power. There's a rising tide of Euro-scepticism all across the continent, after all.

Time to stay in the EU for two years and troll them all with our veto before we exit on the wings of a purebred Albion phoenix.

The sense of shock is palpable. EU leaders are struggling to come to terms with a huge setback for those who believe in the idea of European unity. The EU will never be the same again without the UK.

It is also clear the leaders want negotiations on a political and economic divorce to move swiftly. My university in Belarus takes part in EU exchange programs like Erasmus and other similar programs like DAAD, and they send people to non-EU countries like Switzerland and Turkey, along with Deutschland, Italy, etc.

No idea how it works in the EU, but I suppose it won't be more different.
