I definitely foresee this being used to initiate a 2nd Independence referendum, very clear margin in favour of the EU in Scotland. With any luck we'll actually win this time. Assuming Westminster don't try and prevent us from getting another referendum.

Wonder when/if the financial upsets being caused by Brexit will calm down though.

Well... Britain has voted.

It kind of makes it uneasy, since I'm not sure what happens next. I'm not British, nor do I know any British people off-hand, but I hope that everything turns out alright over there.

...Good luck?

I strongly believe that it will be very complicated for the UK:
- With Scotland strongly willing to remain in the EU, and considering that many voters who backed remaining in the UK in the independence vote did so because they did not want to leave EU, I'd say it's very probable that the question will return, and there will be another referendum. The same might happen in Northern Ireland, which might also want to remain in the EU by joining the Ireland, though it is much less probable.
- Should the UK cease to trade freely with the EU and return to customs, or worse, introduce strongly protectionist measures, it will be very harmful to the British economy, which will lose its European markets, and countless cheap products from the EU. British citizens and companies would pay dearly for that, quite literally.
- Should the British choose to force EU residents out of the UK it will again have a very strong, negstive impact, as they are going to lose about 2 or 3 million workers nearly in an instant.

So basically, for the sake of the UK I hope that even though it will leave the EU, it will remain part of the common market and Schengen so that people can still travel freely between UK and the EU.

UK is not part of Schengen and there is no free travel other than to Ireland. Passports are still required. Also I believe it's silly to think that the UK will suddenly stop trading with it's neighbors because of this.

You know, I want Britain to do well, but there's a part of me, small part, but there nonetheless, that wants our economy to utterly tank simply so I can go 'See, I FUCKING told you!'

Problem is, those negotiations come later, not now. Now, all people have is uncertainty. I follow a bunch of folks on twitter, and I'm already seeing a ton of game devs either preparing to search for a job elsewhere in the EU or posting job listings for elsewhere in the EU.

Not knowing if you will have a market for your goods or even the ability to live in the country in two years will cause huge problems starting today, regardless of negotiations a year from now.

Shadenfreude is a wonderful feeling.

Questions arise. Will this bring down the EU? The first to leave implies that this is an organization which you can drop out of now. There is a precedent. No longer is there a choice between "centralized-decentralized" but an option to simply leave. Being a respectable member of Europe might no longer mean being part of the EU. Will anyone else leave? Richer countries, or poor onecs? If more countries leave, what would happen to the remaining EU? Would they just knit together ever closer? Or would the EU simply sink into irrelevance?

What if no one else leaves? What then? With Britain gone, the EU is now very much based on the bedrock of Franco-German Alliance. What will that mean? What will the EU do in response? Try to lessen the damage, make it as "still in" as possible? Or punish Britain, making them an example? If Britain suffers economically, it would sure be a hell of a deterrent. But then what? What will become of the remaining EU? What will it become, now the Britain is gone? Can it still try to be the great unifier it tried to be? With Britain out of the way, who will prevent it from becoming an ever closer union? Curious.

All very curious.

France apparently has a higher percent who would vote 'leave' than the UK did, with le pen actively calling for a frexit now. Either they go with very punitive measures and make an example of the UK or the EU may well be finished or significantly smaller.

The EU without Britain is diminished. The EU without Britain and France is Germany and Her Tributaries.

REMAINERS GOT FUCKED!

Last night at 11pm, watching the ITV pundits sitting there saying 'Yes yes, I think it's Remain', or the ones on there with Dimbleby, that silly blonde woman on with Carswell with her smug face, it felt like we'd already lost. My girlfriend was gutted, I thought she was going to cry at one point, and then we fell asleep before midnight.

Social engineering or denial.

If the UK runs another referendum about Scotland's independence, and the scots votes to leave the UK, will they be automatically accepted into the EU?

And how the hell every "serious" poll and betting site predicted Remain will win? even the markets behaved as if Remain already won (Although they go by the Media). is it just a case of a serious Echo chamber mentality? we know today's journalists are basically a young and inexperienced humanoid copy/paste search engine, but have they actually unintentionally/intentionally tempered with the results, seeing/showing only what fits their agenda?
