Isn't it obvious? Now they have a scotland, northern ireland, and london referendum to win! If anything they have more work now! Independence for all of the things!

UKIP would be ideologically opposed to any break up of the UK. They would fight tooth and nail to not let Scotland go and to keep it out of the EU. They would fight to keep NI away from RoI. They would fight against London getting devolved status. They would fight against Wales, Cornwall, or any other part of the UK being anything other than part of good old Blighty.

This will be their job in the short to medium term future.

Is it not utterly hypocritical for UKIP to oppose the EU on the basis of self-determination, while rejecting self-determination for British people who don't want to be part of the UK?

They do not see the two as the same. They see the UK as an entity to be preserved and protected. Eu membership threatened that, just as successions would.

Please give up the notion there's any logic to UKIP. Key promises they made to get Britain into this situation were disavowed the moment they touched reality. What they want, and the real world are two circles on a venn diagram that never touch.

If this is a game of CK2, the Leavers are playing the dynasty as the House of Wessex which has lost most of its earlier conquests, but still has most of the British Isles. They're seeing this as a modern day rebellion against their vassal status. As such, they're not going to countenance any internal rebellion themselves.

Really? They seemed to be mashing against each other in an alley after that referendum.

I did forsee UKIP needing to rebrand as United Kingdom Solidarity Party after this, but to be fair the the EU has only been a thing for a 40 years, the UKs been around much longer.
Since then the UK has invaded various parts of Europe at least 2 dozen times, usually with the help of other parts of Europe. You(rope) guys need to get your shit together seriously.

Sorry, I wrote that in a confusing way for the poetry of the sentence. It's basically a fancy way of me saying what they want is a fantasy world where they get exactly the nation they want (a strong united UK independent of the EU, like Monkeyhead said) without there being any nasty political fallout between the now and the fantasy. Or, rather, all the nastiness to happen to other people.

It's going to be much, much more expensive and difficult for companies in the UK to trade with other EU nations now, and our economy is very dependent on that trade. There's a strong incentive for them to leave, and they might as well do it before they're forced to.

The atmosphere at my university amongst the academics was apparently deathly incidently, this screws over a tonne of UK research and academics.

I just found my favorite internet comment ever, on the topic of the pound/US dollar exchange rate:

this article promised to show a "crash" in charts.

the only recent chart shows a drop of less than 10% after the vote.

Yup, less than 10%, its ok.  We can all go home now, everything is fine.

Spoiler: Never (click to show/hide)

It's a good thing the UK's exporting all this salt cause America has a huge demand for popcorn right now.

I'm reading a thread on a "critical thinking" group I follow who's abandoned all pretenses and is calling for voter competency tests and "Maybe not everyone should have the right to vote."

I for one would be totally up for an experiment in first-world autocracy.

As for the money concerns, I think the real thing we should be worried about is how we got in a fiscal situation that a currency can lose 10% of its value in two days because of a vote.

TBH the news there is not that they lied (because politicians, and it was kind of obvious by analysing the claims critically), but that they are admitting it in such a brazen way before the ballot boxes have even cooled after firing such a large number of democracy bullets.

It's really cool that those lies may have swung the vote.
