Minecraft Millenaire: Roth Dakon - Hardcore Mode
« on: March 24, 2016, 05:37:13 pm »

Millenaire is a mod for the game Minecraft which adds in civilizations and towns. This creates war and trading and ultimately fills a big gap in Minecraft, which was exploration. It is now something of an adventure mode, so I'm going to create a journal series based on it. I've done this before, but the save got deleted accidentally and I never got back into it because of the dreadful installation process. Starting it back up again because I just reread through the old thread and wanted a reboot. Seed is "dorfies". Hardcore mode means that if I die the save is automatically deleted, and that extra enemies will spawn and my health will drain quicker than usual.

Day 1:

I woke up this morning pretty dazed and unsure of where I was. I couldn't recognize anything surrounding me, which was just a mountain with lava pouring from it, some rocks, and a few pigs and caves. I got to the top of a hill and looked around.

From the top of the hill I could see two small hamlets dotting the landscape. I began walking to the one on the left.

Turns out the town is named Le Breuil les-patures. I'm just going to call it Patures, as according to the locals, there are three towns in the immediate area that also have a prefix of "Le Breuil".

Anyway, I walked into the town hall, and took a look at the town board.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

They're currently in need of some wood for an "Elevage Porcin", whatever that is. I decide that it'd be a good way to make some money, and that'd it'd probably be beneficial to help out the locals, so I take off with the objective to gather up some wood for 'em.

I quickly gear myself up with a stone pickaxe, axe, and sword, and take off demolishing the local forests. I took care to replant after I was done, just in case the local populace were anything like the elves.

It began getting dark, and I asked to take refuge in the village overnight, and was allowed to sleep in the home of a family of two for the night.

Day 2:
I wake up to the villagers speaking their language to each other, which I still do not understand at all. The only way I've been able to communicate with them thus far is through hand signals, like when I asked to sleep here last night. Anyway, I walked to the town hall and gave the trader all of the wood I'd gathered, which left them at this point in construction:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I used the money from the trade to buy a scroll on Norman villagers, which was surprisingly in a language I could understand. I learned from the scroll that these people were farmers, and that this was just a small farming village. Chances are, however, that it'll grow with trade and time. After reading from the scroll, I went back out to collect more wood.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I also noticed that the nearby hills were rich in ores, so I collected some of that as well.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I was also hungry, so I bought some food from the farmers that were allowing me to stay with them.

As I was collecting wood, I came across a cave.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I walked on in, and planted some torches around. There's quite a bit of ore in there.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As I was navigating around, I came into VERY close contact with a skeleton, which got a total of 3 arrows in me before I could vanquish it. Luckily, however, it dropped it's bow, giving me a ranged weapon.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I noticed it getting dark, and headed back to town for the night. I shot a few arrows at some skeletons as I walked by, and they landed some pretty good shots on me. I killed one, but ran from the other as it was beginning to get the upper hand.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

By the time I arrived back at the house, the family was already sleeping. I decided to call it a night.

Day 3:
Started off the day by listening to the family bicker at each other in their native language while getting ready, and took off for the town hall across the street.

Lost internet as I finished this part and it deleted my post, so no screenshots here. I essentially walked around the local area, checking out nearby towns. The ones nearby are of the same culture and I'd assume the same nation, and they're all fancier than les-Patures. The main town was the one I found myself in as the day turned to night, and it's also where I logged off last night, so I can have some screenshots to end Day 3.

Here's a picture of the keep of the main town.

Here's the map so far. There's another town visible to the northeast, but I'll have to visit that tomorrow. I headed back to Patures.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fuck.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It was a pretty close call. A spider was on top of the house, and it jumped down and got a good few hits in before I could put it down. With that settled, I laid down and got some rest.

Day 4:
As I woke up this morning, I found out that the couple who I'd been staying with had had a child! I still couldn't understand their language, but I understood that his name was "Robert".

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also decided to cook up some food before I took off.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also went and took a picture of the village map of Patures. It's still quite a small town, but I feel that it'll grow pretty quickly. That purple building is the "elevage porcin" under construction, as they've gotten enough resources to build it.

I headed off to the main city of the nation, and took some pictures.

Luckily, I can actually understand what they're trying to build in l'Ocean (which is the main town). It looks like I'll have to do some mining in the hills if I'm gonna turn a profit trading with these guys.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

While I was walking around town, a lady came up to me and began talking to me. I could barely understand her, but I understood that she wanted me to take a sword to her husband.

I tracked down the chevalier of the town, wearing a full set of iron armor, and gave him his sword back. He seemed grateful.

I took off to the northeast to learn about the last town in the area.

Turns out it's an industrial village named les-Mines. The sun was setting, so I decided to spend the night in the town hall.
