Wait for the gate guards to fall asleep,then when the coast is clear sneak in.

[Stealth: 5+1] You attempt to find a quiet, unobserved place to sit and wait for the gate guards to fall asleep, but after half an hour of waiting they appear to be no closer to falling asleep and moreover you are noticed by a watchman who asks you to move along, thinking you a vagrant.  You encounter the others at the end of the street.

Nix moves out with the rest of the suddenly rapidly moving assassination party, and finds the nearest isolated guard, a good distance away from anyone else and out of sight.

Nix moves out with the rest of the suddenly rapidly moving assassination party, and finds the nearest isolated guard, a good distance away from anyone else and out of sight.

[Search: 6, Spot: 9] Nix, it takes you some time to find an isolated watchman, as most travel in pairs.  You do eventually come across a lone guardsman smoking a pipe in a doorway a little way from the main street, but he walks up to you and challenges you.  As with the other watchmen in Uptown, this one is wearing polished steel graves, vambraces, a chestplate and matching helmet.

"Oi!" he says, taking his pipe out of his mouth with one hand and patting his truncheon threateningly with the other.  "What's scum like you doing lurking about Uptown?  Looking for something to snatch, eh?"

The figure follows suit on their own.

[Stealth: 11+1]  You successfully stalk Nix through the streets, unnoticed by your associate or any passers-by.  When the guard starts picking on the pugilist, it is a trivial matter to position yourself close behind and out of sight.

I Look for Rear and side entrances to our target's home.

[Search: 8, Stealth: 7+1] Kansora, you take a surreptitious walk around the villa, keeping out of sight of patrols.  The villa wall runs around the entire complex, although an agile man or one man getting a boost from another could probably clamber over it.  From what you can tell, you think there's a larger bit of garden running behind the main house (within the walls), and you discover a stout wooden door at the back wall guarded by another pair of guardsmen in the same leathers and plate as the front door guard.  Additionally you think you can see a servant's entrance in the back of the villa itself, guarded by a single guard, similarly attired.

Nix stares this asshole down, just to unnerve him.

[Intimidate: 8+1] Nix, you stare this arsehole down until he is suitably unnerved.  "What- what do you want?  Why are you looking at me like that, creep?"

While the guard is distracted, the figure unsheathes its knife, covers the guard's mouth, and jams the knife into his throat.

[Attack: 10+1 (target distracted) vs AC10][3+1+4-3=5 damage, 1/r bleeding] With the distraction provided by Nix's disturbing staring, you sneak up behin the guard, grab him by the mouth and stab your knife deep into his throat.  It isn't an immediate kill, for all the blood that immediately gushes forth, [6 vs 5] but you manage to keep your grip on his mouth despite his desperate attempts to drag your hand away and he quickly loses consciousness from blood loss, death soon following.

[Luck: 4] There is an absolute paucity of hiding places in this side street; even the doorway the guard was sheltering in isn't deep enough to hide a body.  Still, at least a patrol didn't happen upon you in the act.

[A slight error here on my part, as I read your earlier instruction as looking for a watchman, instead of a guard to the villa.  The Luck check that follows will take this into account.  If it succeeds, he might have one on him by sheer chance.]

"Nice job." Nix says, nodding to the figure.

He then searches the guard for any keys into the building.

[Luck: 6] No luck finding any keys to the villa, but the blood largely spilled away from the uniform/armour, so it is relatively usable if you wanted something heavier than your shirt.  The watchman also has a stout oak truncheon [1d6 damage, ignores 1 point of armour, fairly concealable] and a coin pouch with some pipe tobacco, a flint and steel, a shilling and sixpence.  There is of course also his pipe.

"Simply the best."

[Luck: 4+2 (preparation)] You get a few spots of blood on your breastplate, but you rub them off with the watchman's shirt.  [Search: 6] Not much in the way of hiding places, [Stealth: 9+1-1] but even with the body you make your way unnoticed through the streets.  You find a fairly out of the way place behind a large unguarded house to stash him, after Nix has taken anything he wants from the body.

Nix puts on the guard armour, and takes the pouch, and the truncheon.  Leave the pipe.

You equip the Watch armour; helmet, breastplate, greaves and vambraces all.  [This armour gives you +4 to AC and +4 to DS, but imposes a -2 to any checks involving stealth or agility.  It is also emblazoned with the crescent moon symbol of the Watch and is rather conspicuous.]

You head towards the back entrance to the villa, where the pair of guards look up at your arrival.  "'Ello, officer, 'ow go the rounds?" one of them asks.

I look for Nix and Follow 'im.

[Stealth: 6+1] You move into a position just out of sight of the rear gate guards, but also some distance away.  You may not necessarily be able to approach the rest of the way unseen.  Nix is in your sight, however.
