Master Crownmaker
« on: December 14, 2007, 04:20:00 am »

Har. So, I had a dwarf make an artifact crown, menacing with spikes of iron and decorated with kobold bone. The thing is, every single metal craft he now makes is a masterpiece crown. No matter what metal I order him to do it with, it's always a masterpiece crown.
So then I tried turning on engraving for him.
EVERY SINGLE ENGRAVING IS A PICTURE OF A CROWN.
ARRRGH.
He's just obsessed with the damn things.
So, how have your dwarves been obsessive lately?   :p

It's either insanely improbable chance, or new HIDDEN FUN STUFF!

Curses. Goblins sieged, and a traitor puppy led them straight into my fortress. Oh well...

When my legendary engraver was starting out, he did several engravings of flasks.  Now that he's mayor, you know what he mandates?  Flasks.  He keeps getting elected, and I think I'd have a flask for every dwarf in the fort if I didn't keep trading them.
That's not quite as cool as masterpiece crowns, though.

Every fourth engraving in my fort is of a Yellow Bullhead.
The only Yellow Bullhead we ever had in the fort was the one unit we brought went we started.

Getting somedwarf to make an artifact weapon is a triumph in itself. Make a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.

This is a fox skull helmet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of fox bone and is encircled with bands of fox leather. This item is haunted by the ghost of Alfador Angrorung the fox.

My very first successful mood in my current fortress was an artifact sword.

Made of Sailfin Molly bone. Banded with some other random fish bone. Worth less than 10k monies, and roughly equivalent to a normal steel sword in actual effectiveness.

I've gotten an adamantine crossbow, and spear made in the same fortress.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

My crown was just plain iron, decorated with kobold bone and spikes of iron, yet it was worth 52k   . Sounds like iron is worth more than I thought..
