My god those are some good tank crews.

Also, I thought of a possible solution to the whole "no ambushes" thing,

Tanks start in a sort of "concealment", and are not on the map and their positions are unknown to anyone but their player until they fire a shot or get into sight range of an enemy tank, that range being determined by terrain rather than skill, so that you're basically waving a flag when you're on an open field, but are much less noticeable in a forest, and allows for you to see an enemy tank but them to not see you. This also makes camouflage actually matter, so you can't paint all your tanks pink and get away with it. If the tank breaks sight range of all enemy units, it goes off the map again. Perhaps after battle you or the players can give an overview of moves made while in that concealment.

That is exactly the thing i wanted to avoid.

This is the basic system we had before. Each player gets his own map with only his units visible and then they make their moves and on a third map i show the tanks everyone can see and their moves and on a fourth map i keep all the tanks...this was a massive annoying and confusing hassle.

That is why i offered up the two alternatives, either to use IRC which allows me to do things quickly and in one smooth session or just get rid of the entire ambush thing from the very beginning and use a single map in here in the thread. Thats why i gave you the two options.

The Thing is if i go with one map and open forumposting AND concealment that defeats the entire point of the quick forumposting since no one will see jack shit until tanks actually engage and then i still need to keep track of them and players need to keep track of thema nd for that they want their own maps...etc.

Tell you what. Compromise here. If both players in a match agree on an IRC round we will play with concealment and ambushing otherwise it will be a bog-standard match.

Really split about crews... Given the T-35 armaments, it would benefit the most from a high-gunnery crew, but my two gunnery 6 crews have low leadership rating, and the T-35 survivability also make it a decent leader tank. Should I make the T-34 my leader to get slightly more out of my T-35 guns?

Your...asking your enemies for tactical advice? Wise choice :p. I think the T-35 would make a poor leader. It is trapped on the roads, meaning the enemy always knows where it will go and can plan accordingly. It can't tactically retreat either, on top of the road problem it has a low speed. Depending on how this game works, it might be practical to (for example) destroy the road with cannon fire or block it with a throw-away tank who's wreckage can't be easily removed. And then there is the limited gasoline-once it runs out, you are essentially forced to go on the defensive or abandon your leader tank. It is basically an armored train, with all the advantages and disadvantages therein :p.
