The bristleworm demons keep throwing demons out of the well with their dust. Said demons then fall back down. The echidna is still intangible. THE DEMONS ARE LOSING

It turns out the demons throwing everyone around were the winged monsters, which are all dead now, so no more dead demons. Still, I am responsible for killing more demons than any other overseer. That deserves some respect.

GOOD. KILL SOME DEMONS.

WOO!

Then they all died. But now all that's tying up two echidna skeletons is one wounded pterosaur demon. If one more invasion comes they can go harass the other demons. Also, the necromancers have a lot of animatable corpses for next time they come.

Somehow an echidna skeleton killed the wounded demon. Okay then.

THAT'S BECAUSE OF DEMONS! GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!

...They aren't dying?

I think all the demons are tied up! If I had A FUCKING PICK I could save this place! We don't even need food, there are edible demons here! If I get one more migrant wave before spring I can get rid of the demons!

Also, I made our dwarf the bookkeeper and manager. We have over eighteen thousand units of demon spit in the stocks list. Can I use DFhack to get rid of it when this is over?

So the merchants left completely unmolested, but the liaison is still here. He's trying to meet with our dwarf. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.

WOOHOO! SAFETY, PICKS, AND DWARVES! Now we combine the three!

SHUT UP THERE ARE WAY WORSE THINGS THAT COULD BE HAPPENING

DON'T CARE

Well, boys, here are our dwarves. I claimed that clothier. She's an expert macedwarf and she likes elephants. There are six other unclaimed dwarves for a total of eight. We have five picks because I don't do things halfway.

First we need to join the two places. I'm doing that now.

Then we need to slab all these ghosts. I ran out of slabs and rock in the little room.

Lunatic is a legend.

Our next priority is water. We only have like ten units of beer left and our only well is full of demons. There's some water down in the caverns and they're sealed from the fort, so I think we'll be fine.  I'm having someone dig down there now.

Next is killing all the demons, which is the easiest part. They're concentrated in two locations. We can cave-in on the ones attacking the zinc chest and once we've done that, wall up the ones in the well.

I haven't mentioned food because we have a bunch and we can eat demons.

Whoops, I hit the caverns (twice) while digging for water. I'll wall that off and continue.

SPOOKS GET OUT

Some naked mole dogs got in and they're trying to steal our food. Now they're going to be the food. I've made a refuse stockpile, a butcher's shop, and a tannery. I've also marked the horse foal for slaughtering, since it's getting hungry and we have no food.

Oh boy. Better get cracking on that water source!

Olon, a miner, gives his life so we may drink.

Almost there!

Woo! I routed water from halfway across the embark when there was water a few tiles away! Go me!

So while I was digging out the cave-in trap, I briefly exposed us to the surface. There was a brief scare with a demon and the liaison got in.

This is the only interesting news.

I TOLD YOU NOT TO COME NEXT YEAR, WE HAVE A BIT OF A DEMON PROBLEM!

So yeah he's staying in here with us now.

We need to expand. This will be a new room. Also shown, the rotting parts of the naked mole dogs that didn't get butchered.

The lever is ready, the support is linked, the way is sealed. Let's do this.

They're dead!

These aren't even half the corpses, this is just the biggest pile. I should have counted the number in the 'Others' list beforehand, but I do know it was long and now it isn't. By my count there are 26 demons left in the well and three outside it - two scorching brutes in the deep mines and Amalalen the earthworm demon on the surface.

AND I STILL HAVE TWO MONTHS LEFT ON MY TURN

Come On... I didnt want to be saved!

And to think, my plan failed probably because of a zinc chest.... And the dozens of pickaxes I had forged and given to anyone and everyone that got scattered across the surface with the corpses.

And you DO remember, earthworm demons spit webs...

Soon after collapsing the ceiling on the demons, Scorching Devil B began to move. It went all the way to the surface, killed the duckling that came with the migrants, and is now roaming the surface. Bother. Also the evil forest is now on fire.

However, Amalalen is tied up trying to murder the intangible echidnas.

Also, I've dismantled and floored over the well. Lunatic almost drank this.

Probably not good for him.

OH SHIT WHAT THE FUCK

AMALALEN KILLED THE ECHIDNAS AND GOT IN AND KILLED SIBREK

THIS IS INSANE

THIS IS INCREDIBLE

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DWARVEN

SHE'S FIGHTING A DEMON

SHE WON

Okay, so I can't really top that, so the next month will be a summary. I checked the gamelog, and it turns out the surface scorching devil went to kill the echidnas, got caught in a web, fell, and exploded. The explosion took out both echidnas, freeing up Amalalen. As for the fight, I think Flame managed to go around the webs, or free herself while it was killing the miner. I don't know why it didn't web her mid-fight, but if you notice, she gets caught in the web again right before the end.

The same fate befell the other scorching devil, too. Sky webs are our best friends.

Also, I collapsed a roof onto the demons in the well. Because of how the well was built, not all the demons died, and the well was open to the surface and the fort. But an echidna survived and I managed to floor over the well.

You know, I got so caught up in saving the fort, I forgot to sabotage it! But I had a lot more fun saving the fort than I would killing it. You all gave me an unwinnable situation and I reached down the throat of defeat and snatched victory. I've lived up to my title of Chaosbane.

But really, did I need to sabotage anything? The fort only has five members, no military besides an under-equipped cripple, and resembles a Swiss cheese full of corpses. Any enemy that shows up can just waltz right in and kill everyone. We're not out of the woods yet, my friends.

That worm just tears away any body part it attacks, like that miner's pick is just shredding things.  Epic stuff there.

I'm just glad the worm tore off both foot and leg on the same side, and that it forgot to web.

I was drunk on my victory all afternoon. Five overseers DELIBERATELY SABOTAGING the fort before my turn couldn't bring me down! I am your god!

In comparison to other forts: Worse than Doomforests, worse than Murdermachines, but better than Necrothreat III. However, the comparison to Necrothreat is pretty close, and Necrothreat was twice as old. So I'd like to see what this place looks like in another six turns!

To the new rules, I would suggest something along the lines of having the ability to enact noticeable change on the fort without migrant intervention. With what I did, nothing the poor dwarf could do would make any significant difference to anyone or anything. I would say pickaxes shouldn't be strictly necessary, but being locked in an inescapable, un-farmable room without one would be removing said ability for productivity.
If  someone locked away a dwarf with a small supply of food and plenty of wood, would that be having the ability to enact noticeable change on the fort without migrant intervention, considering the dwarf could make stuff?

That wouldn't really be a noticeable change, though. What could a dwarf with no tools besides a few logs that would actually have an effect on the fort? Besides creating a few pieces a furnature?

As it turns out, pulling every lever in the fortress wasn't as good of an idea as it sounded like at the time.
