After due discussion and internal debate in the House of Lords on certain domestic exigencies, the Kingdom of Sicily regretfully withdraws their requested Research Pact with the Caliphate of Cordoba and their proposed Trade Pact with the Byzantine Empire.  In the lieu of these, we wish to propose Trade Pacts with the Caliphate of Cordoba and the Kongeriget Nordmark.  We wish to reiterate, however, that our proposal for a Non-Aggression Pact with the Byzantine Empire remains active, as it is our hope that our two powers need not be enemies.

The Caliphate of Cordoba is as glad to have traders as it is to have scholars. The Kingdom of Sicily's revised offer of a Trade Pact is welcomed.

In addition, we propose a non-aggression and partial border demilitarization treaty to the Caliphate.

His Excellency Caliph Khalik does not believe demilitarization to be fully practicable at this time, but would be willing to agree to a non-aggression treaty, as well as consider reducing the military presence along our shared border. If Her Highness declines our offer of Trade, we would also be glad to trade with Egypt instead.

The SNARE wonders what is the meaning of 'partial border demilitarization' if not 'reducing military presence on the border'. We propose that no more than one army be stationed withing striking distance of the border.

In the interest of accelerating industrial development, Nordmark accepts the Trade Pact offered by the Kingdom of Sicily and proposes another Trade Pact to another fellow constitutional monarchy, namely, the Caliphate of Cordoba.

Furthermore, Nordmark proposes confidence-building measures to its neighbors the Free Representatives of France and the Eastern Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Let us agree to not deploy our militaries on our shared borders (i.e. not in provinces 50, 51, 9, 10, 15, 14 and 16).

The Eastern Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth proposes Trade Pact, Research Pact, and an Alliance with the Eastern Roman Empire, accepts the offer of a Research Pact from France, as well as accepting the Swiss Trade Pact.

Nordmark is concerned by the gathering of Commonwealth forces in the North, but retains trust in the peaceful intentions of its neighbor. We will be sending our own forces to monitor the situation.

We believe that protection of borders is a necessity and therefore we reserve ourselves the right to put as many armies at our borders as we see fit.

Additionally, The Caliphate would like to offer a Trade Pact to Her Highness Theodora III Komnenos,, ruler of the Byzantine Empire, and her subjects. Both our people hold a love of God in their hearts, though we walk different paths to Him. Those who lack any understanding of His greatness surround us; would it not benefit our peoples to have such exchange, so that we might both grow closer to God?

As we already have accepted mutual treaties of research and trade with Commonwealth and Unified Isles, our logistical base simply couldn't cope, thus we have to refuse.
