Kyo's response consists of several sentences tripping over each other.
"W-wait, but even then how did you recognize m-- wait, did you say Madoka? And Akemi, too? But... Madoka? I haven't seen them in..."

[Empiricist]

"That's fine with me, I figure I owe Holt and Sharp a few proper drinks for their help. I mean, I'm sure Sharp would've been even happier if I managed to buy a DS or something, but hey, I'm pretty sure coffee alone will brighten his day by quite a bit."
Again, he narrows his search, this time the main terms of interest being "Sengoku Jidai" and "Shimazu".

"Well, Madoka loves talking about you and you looked like that Kyo, so I asked."
"I see."
There's still quite a few results, at least one of which he recognises as his own world.

Kyo opens his mouth to ask if either of them are here, but deciding that it would be odd to ask someone to watch for them he instead stands up and wordlessly looks for Akemi and Madoka himself.

"Any max number for the carry-on items? Or is it more complexity or volume? Sorry if I'm pestering you, just trying to get as much as I can back."
He narrows search again, this time searching for mentions of "Satsumi", "Kagoshima", or "Tsurumaru Castle". Didn't really care much for looking at a random battlefield or completely different fiefdom after all.

"I wouldn't know. I've never tried."

Well, there's a stop at Tsurumaru Castle, at least.
No sign of either of them in the crowd of diners or staff.

Larissa sips at the tea, and gives Yuri a thumbs up.
"Good as ever~"

"Ah right, don't suppose you know anyone who would?"
What's the current time?

Another pause. "Uh... are either of them here today...? It's been way too long since I've seen them... or especially Madoka."

[IamanElfCollaborator]

Yuri chuckles.
"Of course. Only the best for my friends."
It is currently just past one PM.

Mitsuru shakes her head.
"Akemi's just finishing up in the kitchen, and Madoka's.....usually helping out, but she's not in today."

[Adragis]

"Oh! Speaking of which, how's Sabrina?"

"Lady Sabrina is fine. She's trying to learn to be more confident, which is why she signed up to be a waitress here. Why, you could ask her yourself."

[Empiricist]

"Well in that case, I'll be off, thank you very much Miss Takeshima."
He pays his bill and leaves, getting on the next bus to Tsurumaru Castle. Is it, actually in the late 16th century? Or does he look out of the window to find that it's in the 35^th century wherein a dyson sphere has entrapped the Sun, and that the castle has been torn down and replaced with a colossal casino slash resort slash gameshow set with the same name or something?

It's the legitimate 16th century Tsurumaru Castle. The bus seems to have gone completely unnoticed to anyone around, despite it being rather obviously far too futuristic for this place.
