The Birth of Magic
« on: March 06, 2016, 11:15:10 pm »

The world is young. Humanity is younger still.
Spoiler: before (click to show/hide)

After

You awaken in a shallow cave, seemingly in tact despite your ordeal. This is a different cave then the one you found the orb in, and you wonder how you got here. The sphere is gone, and but for a few of the odd crystal growths it might be a normal cave. The air is clear here, and you can feel the cold nip of the air from outside. This leads you to notice that you are completely naked, and you can really feel the cold down there. You walk out to the edge of your cave and confirm by way of your surroundings that you certainly are somewhere different now. The cave is apparently half way up a hill, and the forest surrounds you as far as you can see. Your stomach reminds you that you are in fact hungry, and you realise that it seems late in the day already. How long were you out?

You have a few hours left before night fall. It would appear that you immediate survival is your biggest concern. If your past experience is anything, it will be difficult to catch anything without a weapon. Perhaps you could find food another way?

What do you do?

Spoiler: Stuff (click to show/hide)

*Feel free to tell me what you look like (except for eye color). I didn't design a character so much as I designed a story, so that's fair game. I'll let you move stat points around until the next post too, but anything over 7 costs two points.

**Feel free to ask questions, I'll try my best to answer.

***Your ultimate goal here is to develop and spread magic to the world. How you do that, and what you do with that power is up to you.

Assess our situation.

The GM said that we were male.

Break off some of the crystals from the cave. Can we tie them to the end of a stick to produce a spear?

We were male before the event. What kind of half decent magical awakening doesn't pull a genderbend?

From an optimization standpoint, wouldn't being male (or even better, genderless) give us less parts that we need to cover?

Also, are we still a skeleton? That might solve the gender problem.

Being female would ensure ease of reproduction and have little to no extremities requiring extra covering from an optimization standpoint.

Male results in an extra bit down there ya have to keep safe, and if you fail to keep it safe, say good bye to your dynasty. With females it's much harder to rend infertile that way. You can definitely make it horribly uncomfortable though.

I'm fine with you guys changing the character build. I just sort of made one up for the story but it doesn't have to stay the same for the game.

Well, technically you don't have to cover anything if you don't want to, it's more of a warmth thing right now.

Ah, but if we are male, we can have multiple children "on the cooker" at the same time. Plus, we don't have to go through childbirth, which is potentially deadly in this technological period.

Plus, I think that men tended to have more rights than women in tribal societies,

I find it infintly funner to play a character who starts out in worse conditions for ex
Paladin with awesome great sword
Peasent with one arm and a pocket knife
I'd always pick the peasent.
