"I can rotate shifts with you Takoda, as well as anyone else responsible for piloting--that's three out of the whole crew here including me."

"If you're talking about Gert, I've seen him fly, and it's like a city trying to dance. He can do it, but it's slow and not as entertaining as it sounds. That said, I wouldn't mind the extra downtime..."

"Say, um, what if whoever bothered with our Captain bothered to track us down? Given what I know of stellar-travel, we can arrive out of the stellar-leap and be merely hours from meeting other ships parallel to our route, if they did give chase anyway. Do we have a plan of action since we don't have a Captain to give orders around?

"Now that we're far out in the black, we could adjust our course to mess with pursuers. Can you calculate some adjustments? If you want to hide out here, it's not that hard, unless they're looking for you with an armada. Our riskiest will be when we're in port; they might have people looking for us. My advice? We should head out to Losanii for a few months, let the heat die down."

Tokoda is standing by the door, quickly shoving food into her mouth; she was on watch, but she hated eating at her post. The ship would be fine for a quarter hour. Between bites, she mumbles out "Not me. Command's boring as shit. I'll take a share though. Always did want to own a ship." She unceremoniously snags one, balancing her plate on her arm while she attempts to use the wall to sign the paper on.

For the rest of the voyage, Tokoda adjusts the ship's course to deter pursuit while on her watch. During her off-time, she familiarizes herself with the inner-workings of the Fist of the Moon, looking to learn how to upgrade it later.

"The captain's life is not the life for me. I'm just an engineer, and don't know much about the business. I would like a share, though." Gert signs a paper messily, while clumsily eating dwarven ironbread. He didn't seem much minded by the spiciness, though he did comment on how much the food represented his home planet.

Gert uses his downtime to talk to the demons in the works of the ship, querying them about the Not-There as well as any other information they are willing to give on the subject of demons to keep in the practice of talking to those mysterious creatures, while making sure the machines they inhabit don't break.

"Not me. Command's boring as shit. I'll take a share though. Always did want to own a ship."

"Now that I remember, the Pilot is usually the second-in-command after the Captain, followed by Navigator and Co-Pilot." Vaye said, as she did as Tokoda asked {about Navigation}. "Which usually follows the same protocol in a colony ship as to a space-faring one. Chain-of-command applies in many situations, but that also means you can designate who can call the shots in a battle situation."

Also, ponder if I can find a way we can return to that-one-place-where-the-Captain-went-ded, in analyzing paths we can take to make a silent and secret landing--for future reasons.

Tokoda looks up, mouth half-full, eyes wide with surprise. "Aye, but that never matter 'fore today. And, if you missed it, command fell apart." Despite her dismisal, Vaye's words got Tokoda's mental wheels turning. She was, after all, a dwarf at heart, and when you gave a dwarf a duty, they would perform that duty to their fullest. Her being next in line placed the duty to care for the crew and ship squarely on her shoulders. Gnawing on a hunk of ironbread, Tokoda stared thoughtfully out into space.

Callisto poked his strange meal as if expecting it to transform into a powerful Devil and try to cut his head off or something the second he attempted to place it in his mouth. Upon hearing Fiori's speech, his eyes began rolling as if they were loose in their sockets. He waited until a reasonable amount of the other members of the crew said their part before talking. "My my, Sunshine - it seems as if none of the rest of the crew want to be the captain! I suppose it'll go to you - who would trust a slimy individual such as I with such an important role? I'm almost surprised you managed to find it in yourself to give me a share of the ship! Which I will be gladly taking, thanks."
If there's enough time to, with the whole iron chest fiasco, attempt to guess the password of the feywood chest.

The elf had a point, Tokoda realized. Fiori would almost certainly volunteer as soon as someone else did; no point in this charade otherwise. But who would step up? With thoughtful eyes, Tokoda scanned the room.
Puddington and Firebrand had already said no, and she couldn't see Ironblood as the captain. Besides herself and Suntouched, that left Alarai and Galilei. Neither of them had said yes, but neither of them had said no, either. She trusted Callisto as far as she could throw him, but she could get behind Vaye. She was skilled and reliable; she'd do nicely.
Tokoda tries to catch Vaye's attention, making purposeful head gestures.

Fiori began stabbing her dagger in Callisto's direction, no doubt wishing he was standing just a bit closer. Talk about body language...

"It'll go to whoever has enough courage. I admit, my own skills are more in bone-breaking and head cracking, than running sums and figuring trade routes for a vessel this size. I probably wouldn't be the best Captain...but, I'll stand for this ship, even if no one else will.

Also, the concept of shared ownership was the only way we could do this without the chance of violence occurring-otherwise, it would go to strongest person. Which is me, of course...but, a position bought with blood and pain would never be as loyal-or as dependable-as one earned through respect.

I admit, in the future, we may run into the idea that the less of us who are around, the larger slice of profits and control will be left for those who remain...but for now, we can act as one. Especially in the light that we may still be threatened by our former Captain's killers. We can not afford any dissension."

Fio had already begun to think of the vessel as a surrogate for old clan and family-new brothers and sisters to replace her old ones...money and power didn't matter so much to her, as having a place to call home, a cause to fight for.

[Sl4cker]

"Easy there, Sunny! You can say whatever the hell you want and the most I'll probably do is roll my eyes. I didn't become good at stealing things because I wanted to get into politics, though I'm sure it's a practical skill in that field. And, uh, I'm not hungry for food, either. Have fun with your "being an honorable captain" thing you seem to be getting off on, though!" Callisto jogs back to the Captain's room before the stabbing can get any closer to his handsome face.

Tokoda tries to catch Vaye's attention, making purposeful head gestures.

Vaye smiled and waved back, before noticing Tokoda was gesturing opposite her direction--unsure what she meant, Vaye headed over to the pilot, guessing she was signalling the thoughtfulness of the crew.

"Heya Tokoda! Want me to look over the rest of the controls too?" she said, not fully getting Tokoda's point.

Hearing this, Tokoda's eyes instinctively performed a very technical flight maneuver called an Aileron roll as she put down her plate, swallowed, and grumbled something about clueless elves. Quietly, she says "I think you should try for captain, ya idjit!"

[Tiruin]

I've never commanded anything in my life...I wonder how that'd feel? "Oh."

She mulled over the idea as she quickly took her seat by the pilot. "I could...try for Captain, sure. But I lack the experience to do it efficiently. And some of the crew are the more 'action' type, so I'm not sure if they'd take me hesitation well, at times.

"Aren't you trying for Captain too?"

Tokoda snorted. "I just said it was boring as shit, didn't I? I'll only throw my hat in if you don't; it's not like there's a motherload of options. But you'd be a fine captain. You'll learn on the job, and sometimes you want caution instead of recklessness."

[Dwarmin]

Fiori hadn't expected the Coldune to have been nominated, but found it worked in her mind. No one would strongly object, she thought-it was hard to object to someone kind and pleasant, whereas Fiori had already attracted her share of grudges.

I've never commanded anything in my life...I wonder how that'd feel? "Oh."

She mulled over the idea as she quickly took her seat by the pilot. "I could...try for Captain, sure. But I lack the experience to do it efficiently...."

Fiori chimed in.

"There is a careful balance between experience and wisdom. A highly experienced person can still be a fool, for they make think they know all there is-a wise woman only knows, that she knows nothing at all. Your lack of command experience-which is hardly worse than could be said of any of the rest of the crew-can be a boon, not a malus. You may see things on the horizon with clear vision, a more jaded pair of eyes may have dismissed."

[Tiruin]

Vaye was very glad the ship had a clear internal communications system, in that anyone could speak and hear others on board. "Alright then, I guess I'll volunteer too for position as Captain. We could work as teams of specialists if that idea rolls around, or probably shifting authority with a certain time for their term-um, we're voting for one, right?"

"That's what Fiori suggested. Step up now if you're going to, it's voting time."
