When do you get more points to level up your character? Is it after surviving a certain amount of days or after completing a certain number of missions?

Both. Both surviving long and completing mission makes you a better agent.

how easy is it to die in this? And if one of us dies is that person out of the game?

It's both Easy and not so easy to die in this game.

If you manage to get yourself in a situation where you're getting shot at at every parts of your body then you're pretty much going to die.

While some less-than-lethal wounds like blunt forces that didn't break the bones or rupture anything important inside wouldn't prove too much of a problem since you also have a Doctor, Gunshot wounds can be treated as long as it isn't instantly fatal.

So it's pretty much situational. And yes, if you die, you're out of the game, the Character is dead permanently, there's no revive magic and the likes. And you can rejoin again with a new starting character at the end of the waitlist. If there's no waitlist then you can roll up a new character immediately.
